Play-Along to Get Along
Funded Dec 20, 2020I apologize for how terribly long it has taken me to send this letter of thanks. It is an underestimate to say that this has been the hardest and longest year of my teaching career. Our band program certainly suffered from schedule changes, lunch-time class, remote learning, and in the end, we weren't able to use our room until just recently.
This year we were not allowed to teach wind instruments except remotely. While we had a lot of fun with recorders no traditional band instruments were played. However, next year we will be back to our marching and jazz bands and these play-alongs will be a great addition to the music the students will be learning. I intend to use them in class and then allow students to check them out through a music library system for at-home practice. I think the students will really enjoy these recordings as we dig into the American tradition of jazz music!
Thank you again so much for your patience throughout this year and support of our band program. Your kindness has been a bright spot and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Perez

Funded Dec 24, 2020I apologize for how terribly long it has taken me to send this letter of thanks. It is an underestimate to say that this has been the hardest and longest year of my teaching career. Our band program certainly suffered from schedule changes, lunch-time class, remote learning, and in the end, we weren't able to use our room until just recently.
I am so excited for this new addition to our band room! While the room was closed this year, it will be open this fall and I can't wait to show the students the record player on this stereo! My plan is to amass a decent record and CD collection so that a small part of every class will include a little listening of selections chosen by the students!
Thank you for supporting this project and showing such kindness during this rough year!”

Funded Mar 14, 2020Thank you for your patience regarding the delay in writing this thank you letter! It is an underestimate to say that this has been the hardest and longest year of my teaching career. Our band program certainly suffered from schedule changes, lunch-time class, remote learning, and in the end, we weren't able to use our room until just recently.
This project funded right as we went into lockout last year and I was unable to give out the metronomes and watches as planned. As our concert band was suspended for this year I the materials are STILL in our band store waiting to be "sold." However, we received the great news that we are able to resume our band next fall and one of the first things I'll do is open up the band store and "sell" (through the use of incentives called "band bucks.") these wonderful tools for our helping our students tell and keep time in the band!
Despite the tardiness of this thank you letter, I very deeply appreciate the support you gave to this project. l can't thank you enough for your patience and belief in our band!”

Funded Sep 17, 2020I apologize for how terribly long it has taken me to send this letter of thanks. It is an underestimate to say that this has been the hardest and longest year of my teaching career. Our band program certainly suffered from schedule changes, lunch-time class, remote learning, and in the end, we weren't able to use our room until just recently.
However, when I was able to start bringing in a couple of students at a time to the band room to record music for graduation, I was able to unpack the fans from this project and cool the room down very efficiently. I will definitely be utilizing the fans next year as we are cautiously optimistic that we'll have students in the band room again making music!
Thank you so very much for supporting our program and for your patience as we've made our way through this tumultuous year!”

Funded Jul 12, 2019Thank you so very much for your help in securing audio splitters for my students! We have slowly been building our tech resources and now boost 10 iPads and 40 sets of headphones. What we were missing were the splitters to allow the students to share the iPads. Thanks to your generosity that is no longer a roadblock!
Students use these splitters to engage in small group projects using the music program Soundtrap. Soundtrap is a music studio that allows students to create their own music. We use Soundtrap to create accompaniments to our piano repertoire as well as create songs using Social Emotional Learning (SEL) concepts.
Our band students used these splitters frequently this past December to access the "practice pages" for their band concert repertoire. Working in sections, students would listen to the play-alongs together.
These splitters, while small in themselves, have made a HUGE impact in our class. Thank you so very, very much for supporting my students and music education!”

Funded Aug 29, 2019I can't thank you enough for your generosity when it came to funding this project for snacks! I have done many projects requesting healthy snacks for my students and am always extremely grateful that donors such as yourselves recognize the powerful impact giving a child food can have!
My students are always so excited when I tell them that I have snacks for them during our out-of-school rehearsals! It's like a present for them. Not only are they getting something for free, but it's something they might be too embarrassed to admit they didn't have. While some students do bring snacks, we've created a culture in the band where no one needs to feel ashamed to take one of the free snacks. And the snacks in this project are a bit unique from what the kids themselves usually bring so there is a novelty in the new.
But what makes me happy is knowing that everyone is not only getting something to eat but that what they are eating is healthy and not full of empty calories and sugar!
Thank you so much for continuing to support and provide for my students! It means more than you may ever realize!”

Funded Sep 6, 2019Thank you so very much for supporting this project for cleaning supplies! As a music teacher, I have about 150 kids come through my room each day and 750 kids a week. That's a lot of germs! These cleaning supplies have helped me keep the room and all the instruments sanitized.
Not only have these cleaning supplies helped with the cleanliness of the room but they have offered an opportunity for my band students to practice responsibility and respect as select students have taken on the role of "stage crew." The "stage crew" earns "band bucks" (virtual currency that can be traded in for band supplies) by cleaning and maintaining the band room. Not only are they gaining experience working and earning with a job, but they are taking ownership of their rehearsal space and becoming more engaged as a band member.
These supplies should last us the year and I am extremely grateful! Thank you for supporting my students and helping to keep them healthy!”

Music Room Makeover: Printer Edition
Funded Jun 29, 2019Thank you so very, very much for supporting this project!! Having a new printer in the band room has made a WORLD of difference! The ability to be able to make or print a copy of forgotten or lost music on the spot has improved the efficiency of our band rehearsals. We were also able to print our winter concert program in color thanks to this printer!
While the printer has helped in terms of function, it has also given my band students an opportunity to take some ownership over the management of the band. I have assigned band librarians that have learned how to work the printer. Now when music is needed, students know to ask them rather than myself. The band librarians enjoy this extra bit of responsibility.
It has been so great in so many ways to have this printer. Thank you for this small but mighty improvement in our band program!!”
