Smarter Seating for Smarter Students

Thank you so much for donating to our project!! Words cannot express how thankful we are that you were generous enough to contribute to our classroom. When the two very large boxes arrived at our classroom door, my students were ecstatic. The boys and girls in our room were barely able to contain their excitement as we rolled the boxes into our room.

Before opening the boxes, I had the students make predictions about what our new stools might look like. Some of the students guessed that they would be big giant stools, stools with zig zags or polka dots, and soft squishy stools. After discussing our predictions, we slowly opened each box and counted the stools one by one. Then, we worked together to figure out some good safety rules for our new fun seating. The students decided that we should make sure that we only wiggle a little bit, that we share and take turns, and that we can only sit on them on our bottoms.

Finally, it was time to try them out! Each group got a turn to sit on the wobble stools. The students sitting on our new wobble stools, and the students waiting for their turn, lit up the room with their smiles. Their smiles and laughter were contagious!

These stools have made such an improvement in our classroom. We are using them during our Reading Stations, and our Math Stations, every day. My class has been great at sharing our new stools and taking turns. The students maintain great posture, and are more focused when sitting on our stools. I've even found myself using them several times throughout the day and after school!
