My students are in a high-poverty school with few resources, making it difficult to experience the joy of reading that you may have had. The students I am privileged to teach are 4th graders with a variety of reading levels. Some of my students are still learning to speak and read English. They struggle to read fluently and comprehend what they are reading. Many become discouraged with reading and look at it as an overwhelming and difficult task that they will never master.
