  • So Much to Hang...Where Is the Corkboard?

    Funded Jul 4, 2017

Thank you so much for donating to my project to cover the old chalkboard. My husband and I went to school to put it up and it looks absolutely amazing! It is because of your generosity that I was able to make this area of the room the class meeting area. We used it today for the first time and it was absolutely perfect. I covered it with the purple paper and hung up the calendar, a weather bear that we dress every morning and I even had room to put a mini interactive word wall. This is going to be amazing year and it is because of you. Thank you so much for believing in me and in the importance of education!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Kemme

  • Pre K Friends Grow and Discover

    Funded Aug 28, 2017

Words can hardly describe the joy I had when I opened the boxes with all of the items. There was so many amazing items that my students will love to use. Today I used the sensory balls and the bins and I hid little dinosaurs for them to find and pick up with the tweezers. They had an amazing time with it. I can't wait to use everything like the magic balls that grow in water and the tactile letters. This class will learn to form their letters correctly before going into kindergarten. The calendar that I put in my meeting area is tremendous and student friendly. We used it today to talk about the weather and the days of the week. I am really looking forward to introducing rhyming either picture cards that were included it. Thank you so much for your generosity. Looking forward to a great year in Pre-Kindergarten!”

  • We're Half Way There... Help Us Get the Matching Chairs

    Funded Jan 30, 2017

The chairs that I received are AMAZING! My students were so excited when they arrived. When they were delivered we immediately switched out the old metal chairs and reached them with these beautiful chairs that you helped my class receive. Now at the end of the day no chairs fall and hurt anyone and the room looks so beautiful. Each table is color coordinated which makes it so easy for when I call the students to do different tasks like: come to the meeting area or line up. Thank you to everyone who helped to get my project fully funded!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Kemme

  • We Love Heavy Metal...But Not In A Chair

    Funded Oct 21, 2016

Thank you so much for donating to my class project. Words are difficult to find that can clearly express the gratitude my class has for your generosity.

When I received word that my project was funded I was filled with such joy. I couldn't wait to share the news with my class. The day the chairs arrived was amazing. We received the call from the office saying that the custodians could either bring up the chairs right then or we could wait until after dismissal. Of course I asked that they come up now. 😀 We were beyond excited! Everyone joined in to help put the new chairs at the table and stack the old heavy metal chairs at the door to be picked up and taken away!

Now we rotate who sits at the table with the new chairs. Every month the tables switch so that every student has a chance to sit at the table with these amazing new chairs! Thank you to everyone who donated and added a little sunshine to our classroom. Each student looks forward to their turn at the table with these amazing chairs!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Kemme

I have been a teacher for 18 years. This year I teachPre-K in a NYC public school. I have 13 students and hope to instill a love of learning that will last for their entire life. For many of these students it will be their first school experience. It is in my opinion that Pre-K is the foundation upon which all other grades are built upon. My goal is to create a classroom where all students feel confident to learn, take risks and explore. I want to create an environment where students understand that mistakes are ok and are good experiences to learn and grow from. I hope that all my students look forward to school every day and that they come with enthusiasm and stories to share about their own life. Each year my students become a part of my family. Building a connection between each of their families and our class is vital to ensuring that their first school experience is not only memorable but inspiring.
