  • We Need Some Kitchen Aid!

    Funded Aug 12, 2018

I am truly amazed by the support I have received for my project. My students are in love with the dramatic play center. They are serving meals and taking orders like a real restaurant. The food is perfect. I have exposed my students to new vocabulary and hopefully this will carry over into their home. We are starting to have great conversations about why we eat vegetables and eat less dessert items. The pots and pans are my favorite. They have lids that match and I smile as the children pretend to boil carrots and then serve them on the new plates we received. Thank you so much for helping to make my dramatic play area a place where my students love to go to and are learning so much!!!!”

  • Pre-K Today...Kindergarten Next Stop!

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

I just wanted to take a moment to thank each of you for your ongoing support for my projects. This year has been amazing and my students are growing and learning so much. This has alot to do with the projects that you have helped to fund. My project "Kindergarten Here We Come" is a very exciting one for us. I am especially excited about the magnetic dry erase board. I have been using a felt board to help with retelling. It is a great tool, but often the felt pieces fall off. I will use magnets on the back and this will really be fantastic for my Prek students. I am so proud of my class and so appreciative of your support. Thank you very much and I am looking forward to sharing photos.”

  • Building and Creating in Prek!

    Funded May 8, 2018

Thank you for your continued support of my class projects. The Lego's are amazing! We used them for the first time today and I couldn't believe the excitement. My students used their creativity to build structures and cars. Many even shared their vision and worked together. I wish I could have videotaped it for you. The stories they were creating were so sweet. I am really looking forward to using them tomorrow. We added them to our Science center and I introduced new words to help them sort the items before putting them away in the bins. They learned to separate "living items, accessories and Lego blocks." Thank you for helping to make my vision come true.”

  • Technology Is Our Future and We Are Excited!

    Funded Dec 29, 2017

Thank you so much supporting my class and the project to help me incorporate technology into my classroom. We have recently introduced the tablets to help my students listen to each other retell stories. Next year, I plan to use the tablets in a different way. I hope to have my students' parents record themselves reading a book. This will help both emotionally and academically because they will hear stories being read to them ny family members and we can continue our work on listening and retelling. I think it would make reading even more special by incorporating this home school connection.”

  • Kindergarten Here We Come!

    Funded Apr 16, 2018

I wanted to take a moment to thank you for your ongoing support for my projects this year. This project I am very excited about. My Pre K students are so lucky. We have been working so hard on getting ready for Kindergarten and these items will continue to support their growth. The magnetic dry erase board will be so helpful with retelling. Right now we have been using a felt board and it is a little challenging because the felt pieces fall off a lot. Thank you so much for your support and I am so proud of my class. I can't wait to upload photos so you can see how we are using the materials.”

  • Supplies...Supplies... Help Us to Organize!

    Funded Feb 15, 2018

To be organized is so important in your everyday life. But to be organized with children is even more important. Organization helps children with their independence and teaches them life long skills. My hope is to be able to instill in each student a sense of pride in everything they set out to do. When I moved into this classroom there was a sense of panic. The closet space was so limited and I knew my students deserved a wide variety of manipulatives, games, art supplies, and activities to continue their love of learning. I have been adding to each center as the year has progressed. However, I was running out of storage space. This storage cabinet is absolutely AMAZING! All of my supplies are near and so easily accessible for the children. Thank you so much for all of your support and generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Kemme

  • Pre-K! Exploring with Science!

    Funded Feb 1, 2018

We are absolutely loving all of our new center activities. The microscope has been the biggest hit so far. My students are exploring and using new vocabulary to describe what they see under the microscope. Some students have even put objects they have found in the classroom and playground and put them under the microscope. In addition, we have played the magnetic Dog Match game and they are having so much fun with it! These new materials have really added excitement to he room and to our learning. We have begun our Unit on Light and the prisms are amazing! They make beautiful rainbows in our room and have sparked so many conversations about light and what light is made up of. Students have been painting and drawing rainbows all week! I am really looking forward to introducing all of the materials that arrived...especially the snow and the floating blocks! Thank you for all of your support!”

  • Pre-K the Future Begins Here

    Funded Dec 14, 2017

I find it very difficult to express my sincere appreciation for your continued generosity. I have have had several projects funded and each time I am amazed by all of your support. My students LOVE the mini art easel and are really enjoying letting their creativity flow. Also, the STEM activities buckets are a huge hit! My students are working together to try and build the vehicles and are problem solving together when the pieces don't fit correctly. I am amazed as I hear the conversations between them about how to solve the problem. My students are so excited and eager to learn. Today we were using the new math game boxes. Their favorite is the patten building box and the graphing box! Thank you so much for helping to make learning fun for my students and for supporting our education.”

  • Oh Baby "Doll" This Will Be a Great Year!

    Funded Oct 9, 2017

Thank you for all of your donations and support for this project. The dolls are the favorite of my class. They even named them. One is Beatrice, Paula, Kevin and we can't forget about Strawberry. They all enjoy dressing them and feeding them. This upcoming week we are beginning our new unit and the crinkle cut hair will be perfect the self-portraits! Your continued generosity is so appreciated and is making this school year super memorable for the children and I. I hope that the joy they are experiencing this year as they learn and discover continues throughout their school career”

  • Exploration and Discovery in Pre K

    Funded Aug 17, 2017

My class absolutely loves all of the fun and educational items that you helped to donate to my classroom. The magnetic tiles are helping with their fine motor skills and the alphabet puppets have so many uses. We began by just playing with them. But then....they began to discover that there were letters on each puppet. Now they are not only a fun learning center activity but we use them during our meeting area to introduce and practice our letter recognition and sounds. I greatly appreciate all of your support in helping to make my classroom a place where the children can all learn, grow and discover.”

I have been a teacher for 18 years. This year I teachPre-K in a NYC public school. I have 13 students and hope to instill a love of learning that will last for their entire life. For many of these students it will be their first school experience. It is in my opinion that Pre-K is the foundation upon which all other grades are built upon. My goal is to create a classroom where all students feel confident to learn, take risks and explore. I want to create an environment where students understand that mistakes are ok and are good experiences to learn and grow from. I hope that all my students look forward to school every day and that they come with enthusiasm and stories to share about their own life. Each year my students become a part of my family. Building a connection between each of their families and our class is vital to ensuring that their first school experience is not only memorable but inspiring.
