Funded Oct 30, 2023I want to express my deepest gratitude for your support through DonorsChoose, which allowed us to acquire a circuit machine and a shirt press machine for my students.
Since the arrival of the circuit machine, my students have been buzzing with enthusiasm and creativity. One of the most impactful projects we embarked upon was creating Mother's Day cards using the circuit machine. It was a heartwarming experience to witness the student's excitement as they experimented with the machine, exploring its capabilities and unleashing their imaginations to design unique and personalized cards for their mothers.
Beyond the immediate joy of creating Mother's Day cards, this project has had a profound impact on our students' learning journey. It has sparked an interest in STEM fields and technology, igniting a passion for innovation and problem-solving. Through hands-on experimentation, they have gained valuable skills in circuitry, design, and creative expression.
As for our next steps, we are integrating the circuit machine into our ongoing lessons, incorporating it into our STEM curriculum to further enhance our students' learning experience. We plan to explore more complex projects, challenging our students to push the boundaries of their creativity and technical skills.
Once again, I extend my heartfelt thanks to you for your generosity and support. Your donation has not only provided us with a valuable learning resource but has also inspired a sense of wonder and possibility in our students that will stay with them for a lifetime.”

Funded Sep 23, 2023The Science of Reading Project has had a positive impact on my students' learning. The materials provided have allowed me to accomplish several things in my teaching:
1. Improved phonics instruction: The Science of Reading materials have provided me with evidence-based strategies and resources to teach phonics effectively. This has helped my students develop strong decoding skills and improve their reading fluency.
2. Enhanced comprehension skills: The project's resources have enabled me to teach my students effective comprehension strategies, such as making connections, visualizing, and asking questions. These strategies have helped my students better understand and analyze texts, leading to improved reading comprehension.
3. Increased vocabulary development: The Science of Reading materials have included vocabulary instruction techniques that have helped expand my students' word knowledge. Through explicit instruction and exposure to a wide range of words, my students have improved their vocabulary and become more confident readers.
4. Targeted interventions: The project's materials have provided me with diagnostic assessments and intervention strategies to identify and address individual reading difficulties. By using these resources, I have been able to provide targeted support to struggling readers, helping them overcome specific challenges and make progress in their reading abilities.”

Funded Feb 8, 2023When it comes to reading fiction books my students are drawn to the books and get lost reading. But for nonfiction, they struggle because oftentimes the subject is not of interest to them. I have taught my students to stop and jot as they read nonfiction. Stopping and jotting provide my students the chance to retain the information they are reading and make sense of an unfamiliar text. My students are often placed in book partnerships, they read and discuss the books within a group. I would say that the National Geographic books are a big hit in the classroom as many of my students enjoy reading books about animals. We truly had a wonderful collection of nonfiction texts that would not have been possible without your giving. Thank you very much for supporting my students.”

Funded Sep 29, 2022A million thank you's for donating to our classroom. The students were excited as they enter a world filled with superpowers. My Superpower Is Learning was the theme that I wanted for my classroom. I wanted my students to walk into the classroom every day and believed that they had the ability to learn and grow and they each had their very own superpower. The students choose table names based on the superpower they think they have. We have super kids table, a Wonder Woman table, a Superman table, and the list goes on. And all this was made possible by your giving. As educators each year we arrive in our classrooms filled with hope for the year of learning we are getting ready to embark on. We have a million and one ideas of how we want our classrooms to be for the students to enjoy and grow and learn and funding is always a barrier we must overcome, so please know that your giving makes all the difference and allow us to show up for our students. Again a million thanks for your giving. God bless you.”

Funded Nov 30, 2022a million thank you's for donating to our classroom. The students were excited to get the newest books and I couldn't keep them on the bookshelves. The babysitters club was a hit! The students enjoyed playing games on fun Fridays. Walking past our class on Fridays you will definitely hear laughter and joy. Whether it's hearing the Jenga blocks falling from the highest tower made, are hearing the laughter as the students are engaged in a game of Twister, the joy is evident. Thank you again for your giving.”

Funded Sep 29, 2022I am a lover of learning, I love to read, and I am always looking for materials to improve my teaching skills. When I am studying you are sure to find me with a highlighter in hand. My books are filled with post-it , filled new information I have learned. The resources I received has provided me with many new methods I can use to tap into my students learning. Other resources has helped to keep me organized. For example, the IEP planning book, provided me with a great way to keep track of my students information. I was able to have the information in one place, saving me valuable time. I was able to plan differentiated reading instruction for my students that are currently not reading on great level. I planned a lesson in which I taught my students to recognize and manipulate segments of sound in speech. Jennifer Serravallo understanding Text and Readers has allowed me to gain the knowledge about the reader. The text breaks down the skills the students should master at certain reading level. This allowed me the opportunity to tailor my lesson to meet the needs of my students. I have so many great resources and I can't wait to dive into these great books to ensure I am meeting the needs of all the students in my class. Thank you very much for your giving. God bless you.”

Funded Sep 29, 2022In September my teaching assignment was changed from teaching the lower grade to upper grades. The materials was no longer going to be able to serve my current population. However, a found a person in need for the materials in my school building, a newly hired teacher to the school. She did not have all the resources she needed to meet the needs of her students. I was so happy that I was able to gift her the supplies from this project. Her students were excited to have the materials. They were able to use the journal to share their thoughts and feeling. The writing notebooks aid them in their writing. They were given the daily practice notebook that gives them the chance to practice their handwriting and their sight words skills. This project is making a wonderful impact on our young babies. Thank you very much for your giving.”

Funded Feb 9, 2022Thank you very much for giving towards funding for my book project. It's important to me as an educator to have books that my students are interested in reading. My students love reading books they can relate to. My Brown skin and Brown Boy Joy are two such books that my student Master grabs when it is time to read. I ask him why he loves those books? and He informed me that he loved those books because the character looks just like him and the character is smart and he hopes to keep learning so he can be smart as well. Reading in my classroom showcase my students' love for reading. If you were to walk into my classroom during our reading block and you would find my students sitting in corners, on the carpet, on beanbag chairs, and at their desks engulfed in their books, being carried away by the many adventures their characters go on. Reading provide my students with a way to travel to different places without leaving our classroom. Reading truly opens the windows to the world for my students. And I love when they share all the interested and cool things they learned from their books. My students' faces light up when they can make a connection to the characters or the stories they are reading. Again thank you very much for your giving and for helping me to provide the students with these wonderful books.”

Funded Feb 9, 2022Thank you so much for your giving. The joy I see in my students when they are reading can not truly be put into words. My students love reading books that represents them. I know this because they rush to the library during independent reading to grab our newest collections. They are making connections and finding joy in reading. We are taught to teach our students skills, skills that are then assess on standardized test. But I have come to realized that my students come to my classroom already filled with skills, and it's my job to provide them with the cultural relevant materials to aid them in showing those skills in ways that cannot be measured only by an standardized assessment. Again thank you for giving my students the materials that will help them to see themselves and achieve success. God bless you as you continue to show your support to the many educators throughout this country.”
