An Environment Suitable for a Superhero!
Funded Aug 2, 2023Your donations to my classroom have made a fantastically organized space for my students to come to every day. We have been able to keep our centers stocked with all of the needed supplies because everything is color-coded. If something is found, we know where to put it. I teach kindergarten through second grade and all students are able to pitch in and keep our room nice and neat and ready for us to learn. Our new wheel and timer help us to quickly move from center to center as the timer alarms.
Thank you for helping our classroom run smoothly!”

Funded Mar 1, 2022Our classroom has received all of the new resources and we have started putting them to great use!
The magnetic dominoes add a fun twist to learning numbers and matching. The magnetic money and clock have given my student with physical disabilities a way to access manipulatives with their head laser pointer. Our whiteboards add to the flexibility of our classroom; we can move anywhere and have a surface to organize our thoughts.
These new resources will be utilized almost every day as daily centers to review and practice skills. Practicing can become boring, but mixing up the way we practice makes the practice not so terrible and sometimes even a little fun!”

Funded Sep 3, 2020Thank you for your donations. My students are enjoying the new variety of reading materials! I have several different reading groups ranging from new learners to fluent readers. I also have students interested in fiction and some in nonfiction. All the materials there were purchased allow me to differentiate the reading materials.
The money stamps are working well! They allow me to give an immediate reward for doing something well. The kids work so hard to get money and having the stamps makes it so easy to give immediate feedback.”

Motivational Reading Tool Kits!
Funded Dec 6, 2019Thank you very much for thinking of my class! The kids have loved reading with the flashlight while lounging on the new "chairs". Reading is a hard skill for my students, and the only way to improve reading skills is to practice, which can become frustrating. Allowing the kids a choice of a non-traditional chair such as an inner tube, gives the task a little excitement. This is also true for giving the kids a chance use flashlights to read in the dark. I pair these two activities together and let the kids make videos that they can then share with their parents.
We have utilized the Velcro dots in so many ways in the short amount of time we have had them. We use them to get our bodies up and moving as well as review numbers, letters, skip counting and other skills that require repetition in order to learn.
The Polaroid camera as acted as it's own motivator. I use it as a reward for achieving a goal and the kids strive for that picture!.
All of our new tools have been an asset in our classroom! I love seeing the kids smiles when you use everything.”

Funded Apr 7, 2019It is official: the floor has been installed, teacher and students are loving it and YOU are amazing! This hallway is across from my classroom, so I see firsthand the daily use this walkway is getting and I just have to say THANK YOU! This would not have been possible with your generosity.
This is what I get to see everyday: Kids hopping and skipping on the way to lunch or taking the "scenic" route to the restroom. Teachers having kids take brain breaks when their little bodies just need something to do. I use it as a daily review before entering my classroom. Our principals are utilizing the walkway preemptively for those few students they know need to get their wiggles out before they are asked to sit and listen to their teacher. Our English Language Learner teacher had to get in on the fun and uses it daily to reinforce letter sounds and numbers with her students.
The kids are following directions, trying to read each log with a command on it, moving their bodies and learning their letters and numbers. They are using their imagination too! Throughout the walkway there are little puddles; some kids jump over them so they "don't get wet" others jump right in and then screech "I am soaked!" or "my shoes and socks are all wet now".
Smiles for days. If you have not had the pleasure of exploring this hallway, I encourage you to reach out to our Principal and get a tour. It only takes a few minutes, but it is worth it. Thank you for supporting our school!”

Flexing Our Brain
Funded May 10, 2018Thank you for you donation to my learning support classroom! My students were so excited when they saw the new seats to choose from! The first day of school seemed like Christmas, their eyes lit up! They love having a choice in which kind of seat to choose day. It gives them a sense of ownership in the classroom and the balls are a fantastic way to work on their core muscle as well as use their built up energy. This Donors Choose project has been great for our classroom and I look forward to finding other options to use.”

Funded Jan 30, 2017Thank you for your contribution to my classroom! I am extremely excited to share that the students love using the Chromebooks in class. As a learning support teacher, I am unable to utilize our school computer labs due to scheduling conflicts with the regular education classrooms. In my classroom, I have 2 computer and 3 ipads to share among 15 students. With the purchase of 2 Chromebooks, I am able to teach my students how to use technology to make up for any disability they may have in reading, writing and math. There are so many activities online that give immediate feedback as to write or wrong answers. This is crucial for my students with Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). It also allows my students to become familiar with using Google to search for answers they may not know and use "Docs" on Google to help them write and edit papers.
My students are enjoying being able to search for information for our research projects. We are also exploring Google Classroom. We have explored an online classroom game system called 'Kahoot' as well as other websites such as: abcya.com and mathplayground.com.
I have few students that are NOT loving the new technology because of the help it provides with spelling, grammar and online activities. The Chromebooks are easy to use for my students. They can access websites and google docs independently, which makes them very excited.
Again, thank you very much for your contribution. I am looking forward to exploring more programs this summer and incorporating the Chromebooks into my classroom everyday next year.”

Funded May 1, 2014Thank you for your generosity! My students enjoy listening to and reading along with the stories on Speekaboos. There are also songs the kids love to move around to and sing along with.
This program allows for my students to choose from a variety of stories that can be read to them. There are many different varieties of stories and themes that interest all of the children. They like to look through the characters to choose a story to listen too.
Speakaboos is used in my classroom to explore the world of words. I have readers that struggle. They tend to dislike reading and think is it boring. Speakaboos gives the children a different view of reading. The pictures and videos are vibrant and interesting. The children's attention is always captured and kept throughout the story. They have student lead discussions throughout the stories as well. it is great to see and hear them talk about what happened, what will come next, what they liked and what they disliked about the story.
Thank you all again for your kind thoughts and donations. My kids and I truly appreciate it!”
