  • Wiggly Seating

    Funded Apr 9, 2019

We are so incredible grateful for your generosity and support for this project! I cannot thank you enough for providing us with another outlet to get our wiggles out while learning.

My students are so diverse in their needs and many require lots of movement in order to focus. Students use these wobble stools every single day. It is their favorite flexible seating option- hands down!

This project has also taught them the importance of being caring and generous towards others. They are so eager to help others in the school and I believe that comes from seeing this project come to life. Thank you for supporting us!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Lucas

  • Diverse Books for Diverse Kiddos

    Funded Dec 5, 2018

We cannot begin to thank you enough for your support bringing our project to life. My students and I were so excited to open up the boxes of books. We sat in a circle and they all cheered every time I pulled out a book! It is so heartwarming to see them SO excited about reading, especially since a lot of students were having a difficult time finding books that they could connect to or find interesting in our current library.

My students read all day- morning, afternoon, lunch, recess, and even dismissal. I love seeing them find a cozy spot in the classroom and just get lost in a story. These books have brought my students together and have taught them to even share more by reading together.

Something that I love most about the new books in our classroom is that there really is something for everyone. My student's faces lit up when they saw a character that looked like them, or found a book that represented their culture or traditions. These books truly have changed our classroom culture and we are so grateful for your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Lucas

My students have such a love and appreciation for reading, but often have a difficult time finding books that they can relate to or see themselves in. Many students are so proud of their backgrounds and have told me that they would love to see books written in their home language in our library, in addition to seeing their traditions and holidays more represented in our book choices. I would love to be able to provide them with more choices in our classroom library. I have specifically chosen books that we can use for whole group read alouds tied to our TEKS, small group strategy instruction, and books that are tied to our Units of Inquiry that will allow students to independently explore our Lines of Inquiry and Learner Profile. Students will also use these books for their upcoming research projects. Overall, these books would be beneficial for all students to learn about other cultures that are in their community and around the world, and encourage a more open minded and inclusive environment.
