Celebrating Women's History Month
Funded Mar 16, 2023Thank you for partnering with the students to fund this project. Each book provides exposure to the contributions of women, which is important during Women's History Month as well as all year round. Including these books in our library allow students to see a variety of women that have impacted history. The students have particularly enjoyed the ABC books of different women and accomplishments of women since the format is ideal for preschoolers.
Additionally, the figurines have been added into our collection of small dolls. Some students are even calling them by name (Rosa, Amelia, Maya, and Sally). Learning through play is the best method in preschool. Your donations have allowed students to build a foundation for future learning.”

Calming Area
Funded Jan 3, 2023What a great project to fund for the Calming Areas. Your contribution provided a multitude of items to assist the youngest learners in learning to cope with a variety of feelings. The visual cards paired to feelings help the students identify different feelings. The sensory items help students use different techniques to calm their bodies when feeling angered, frustrated, sad, lonely, etc. The wide variety of items allow each student to have materials that assist them since everyone is unique and different items and strategies are effective with different students. Students are able to use a Calming Area as a proactive and positive strategy to deal with emotions. Thank you for placing such a high value on social emotional learning.”

Chinese New Year
Funded Dec 28, 2022xīnnián kuàilè (新年快乐) or "Happy Chinese New Year!"
Our class had a great time celebrating Lunar New Year. Each student made a frame for a picture of them with our dragon.
They enjoyed the reading of Amy Wu and the Perfect Bao. The magnetic felt board was an amazing supplement to the velcro visuals and will be able to be used with many activities in the classroom. Students had fun using the puffy velcro visual aides to sequence and discuss the story with more than words.
Students explored with chopsticks and each one painted a segment of our dragon with the chopsticks. We put it all together to create a large class project that students then took a picture with to include in their Chinese New Year frames.
Thank you for all the fun you brought to our class with your donation!”

Funded Nov 28, 2022Thank you for the contributions to our Ball Study.
The sensory spheres have been a great addition to our playdoh and kinetic sand for new experiences. Additionally, the soft sensory balls have allowed students to use safe indoor balls in the classroom with different sensory experiences.
The greatest impact came through the roll race activity ramp. All of the students have enjoyed it in different manners. Most students enjoyed racing cars or balls down the different ramps and we practiced recording our results. A couple students found such joy in simply watching others roll the cars down the ramps and laughed every time one rolled off the end of the ramp. A few students were more intrigued with the colors and textures of the different ramps along with figuring out how to switch them out.
Thanks again for supporting our class and adding to our Ball Study experiences.”

Learning Fun
Funded Aug 26, 2022The items donated at the beginning of the school year have offered students several new learning opportunities as the materials were very different from what we already had. The large wooden letter and number puzzles are enjoyed by several students; they use them both as puzzles and as well as to simply practice letters and numbers. The cuddle ball is a great addition to our quiet area, helping students with sensory needs and as a calming strategy. The soft blocks are wonderful as the are both made of a soft material and bright colors. Therefore when they fall, they do not endanger anyone, nor do they make loud noises that could disrupt others. The magnetic fishing rods have allowed students to explore scientific principals. They go around the room looking for other items that are magnetic beyond just the fish that came with it. Lastly, the paint markers have vibrant colors with minimal mess, enabling students to avoid sensory issues around paint.”

Funded Apr 16, 2022The students are learning and enjoying the items you funded.
They love the food toys (pizza and fruit set). The pieces that stick together with velcro are enjoyable for the students as they get to cut the pieces apart. They are practicing sharing, using language, and socializing with the many pieces. The students are learning to discriminate shapes and practice fine motor skills with the shape sorter. The blender allows the students to practice their fine motor skills and understand cause and effect as they explore different items to put inside it. They also enjoy the new opportunities provided with the vehicle bases as an addition to their magnatiles.
Thank you again for your support of early intervention and special education.”

Funded Apr 4, 2022Thank you so much for your donations to our Loving Literacy project. I appreciate your support of Early Childhood Special Education.
The writing tablet boards are being enjoyed by the students as an additional way to practice fine motor and prewriting skills. It also provides cause and effect as some of them are learning for the first time how to erase the screen when they want to clear it.
The Go Away Big Green Monster puppets are fun for the students as the pieces pull on and off easily. Not only can they follow along with the story, but they also get creative in moving the pieces around. Because we got a set of two, the students are able to partner up with each student having their own puppet.
We have not opened the ink pads yet, but will definitely be getting out all our stampers soon to use.”

Funded Apr 4, 2022Thank you so much for your generosity and thoughtfulness in supporting the students in this class.
The art drying rack has added so much to our environment already. Just today we painted Earth Day pictures and as opposed to having them all around the room to dry, we were able to put them into the drying rack. No longer do we need to worry about students' work being interrupted while drying; additionally it allows the students to maintain access to all areas of their classroom, even while art work dries. We do a lot of painting of all different sorts and as we have gotten more students, drying requires more and more space. The art drying rack is a tremendous space saver.
Also, see the sample art work from the paint markers. These are new to us and truly amazing in that they dry within 90 seconds. Also, they are held in the hand just like a large marker. This enables students with motor challenges to paint with more ease than through traditional painting means.
Thanks again for your support.”

Funded Mar 1, 2022The light table has been a wonderful addition to our classroom. It is large enough to accommodate about 6 students at a time around it. It has more features than I realized. The students enjoy the different colors as the light table can change colors via remote control. The remote control is also a hit with the students. It even allows them to learn cause and effect as they explore how it changes the output on the light table. The light table also have different light patterns that students enjoy as well.
The students are exploring the translucent letters and numbers. They especially enjoy finding the letter that their names begin with. Some students have even enjoyed sorting the letters and numbers by color since they came in varied colors. The magnetic pattern blocks and cubes have been great for the students as well, especially since they are a new experience to the students. The light table has enhanced the experience. The are exploring ways of putting the pieces together to form new shapes, to build structures, as well as to sort them by shapes and colors.
Thank you so much for your contribution in enhancing our exploration and learning in the classroom!”

Funded Jan 30, 2012Thank you so much for your time and support by donating to this project. The students in the classroom as well as those in future years enjoyed the materials provided because you made it possible. They gained phones for reading, white board markers for writing (as well as phonics, spelling, and math), and timers.
Timers were an amazing help for the classroom. Students are able to time themselves, promoting independence and self-monitoring. They use them for academic tasks, such as completing math facts or timed reading. They can race their times and try to beat previous scores. The competitive factor really motivates students with emotional and behavioral disorders. They are able to track their progress objectively. Additionally, students can use the timers to support when they request a break. They can watch the timer so that know when their break is over.
Thanks again.”
