  • Building Our Thinking with Brain Games

    Funded Nov 13, 2024

Thank you again for your generous donation to our project. Our class was able to receive several brain games that allow students to use critical thinking skills to solve.

Students engage in our brain games during our morning time when students are arriving to class. By using these games first thing in the morning the students are able to jumpstart their thinking first thing! It is a joy to witness my students solve a puzzle and move on to the next level in the activity they have chosen. They especially love when they are able to solve an 'expert' level!

Thank you again for donating to our classroom!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Franklin

  • Hands-On Math: Building Critical Skills with Games and Manipulatives

    Funded Jan 16, 2025

I cannot thank you enough for your support on my project, Hands-On Math: Building Critical Skills with Games and Manipulatives. These resources will allow my students with amazing hands on practice with abstract math skills. The games will allow students to practice math skills to gain fluency in a fun, collaborative way. I appreciate your continued support of my students and my classroom.”

  • We Too Can Be World Changers!

    Funded Aug 9, 2022

Thank you so much for your generous donation to our 'We Too Can Be World Changers' project. Your donation helped start a beautiful collection of biographies for students to read and explore.

Second graders are so curious about the world around them. It is so exciting to see them make connections between themselves and people who have made a difference in our world. Our wide array of books allow students to read about people with their same interests, passions, strengths and challenges.

Some of the most popular books in our collection are those of strong women who have made a difference. I love seeing the students light up as they read about so many amazing people and realize that nothing is impossible with hard work and perseverance.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Franklin

  • Egg-Citing Learning With Chicks!

    Funded Feb 26, 2019

Thank you so much for your generous donation to our class project! With your help we were able to experience the incubation process of baby chicks, learn how a chick grows, see inside the egg with our candler (it was so neat watching the babies move inside the egg), then care for the chicks once they hatched.

My students were beyond excited the day our materials were delivered! They could not believe that generous donors actually cared enough about our class to purchase us so many cool items!

The experience of hatching baby chicks in class will last a lifetime. Thank you again for your generous donation. You made a difference in the life of a child!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Franklin

  • Tomorrow's Scientists Start Today!

    Funded May 15, 2018

Thank you so much for donating to our project, Tomorrow's Scientists Start Today! The students have been so excited about using our Sphero's in class. We started working with the Sphero's by just exploring, students were able to 'play' with the Sphero's using the app. When students were exploring I noticed our inquiry was taking off. I heard so many comments such as; I wonder if we can make it go in a complete circle? Do you think we could drive it down the hall and have it stop at this exact point? Can I adjust the speed?

When I first got out the Sphero's for the students to see, there was sudden excitement. Some students have these at home and have explored before. Other students were excited to compare these to other robots they had used in kindergarten. Every day students come in and ask if they can use the Sphero's during our exploration time. Your contribution to our classroom has directly impacted the engagement of so many students!

Currently as a class we are coming up with some challenge ideas to do with our Sphero's. Students will create a challenge, test it out, create instructions, then share the challenge with their peers. I can't wait to see the amazing work of these first grade scientists!”

  • Hard Work Should Be Fun!

    Funded Nov 3, 2017

Thank you so much for donating to our project! Your donation has defiantly helped the hard work of a first grader be more fun! student have been able to use the materials independently, with a partner, and in a small group setting.

When the items first arrived the students could not be more excited. All of our new resources are so colorful and inviting, the students couldn't wait to start reading. The new resources provide many different opportunities for the students to learn about the world around them. Students can read fiction and non-fiction text about the same content and compare and contrast what they learn. Our materials also provide comprehension questions for students to work together on with the text they are reading.

Thank you again for your generous donation! Your gift to us has made an impact on first graders by making reading and learning fun and engaging! Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Franklin

  • Good Mornings = Great Days!

    Funded Jan 16, 2017

Thank you so much for your generous donation to our project, Good Mornings=Great Days! The materials that we received from this project have impacted our learning in so many ways. Students are eager to come to school each morning and get started on our morning tubs each day. The excitement the students have to start the day is easily seen through their eyes. With our morning tubs students begin each day with critical 21st century learning skills. Students are creating, thinking critically, working collaboratively, testing ideas and analyzing their work, and so much more; all in the first 15 minutes of class.

When the students first learned that our project was funded they were so proud. My students worked to create this project, helped choose materials, and write our grant. They were very hands on. Realizing their work created results was so exciting for them. This experience will stay with them forever!

If you were to enter my classroom as the students arrive, you would observe problem solving, creating, imagination, and collaboration in the first few moments of the day. Students are eager to begin our journey each day of learning and growing together. The materials you helped provide create an environment of risk takers ready to take on the whole day!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Franklin
