  • The Wonders of the Universe: Stars, Planets and the Sun!

    Funded Nov 13, 2024

My students were beyond excited when they first saw the new materials I received for our "Wonders of the Universe" project. They were eager to dive into the telescopes and immediately started reading the books about stars, planets, and the sun. As we began observing the sky, their faces lit up with wonder as they saw the details of the moon and sun through the lenses. The materials brought our lessons to life, sparking curiosity and deeper questions about the universe. Moving forward, we'll continue our exploration by comparing different planets and studying the stars in more detail, encouraging critical thinking and hands-on learning. Thanks to our generous donors, this experience has truly enriched our classroom and inspired a new level of enthusiasm for science!”

  • Creating a Thriving 1st Grade Classroom Through Organization

    Funded Sep 19, 2024

The new storage centers have made a big difference in our classroom by keeping everything organized and helping my first-grade students stay focused. With the updated shelves, my young scholars can easily find and put away materials. This has made routines like reading and writing more efficient.

When my students first saw the new storage, they were excited and eager to help organize their work. This made them feel that they were in control of their learning.

As the school year progresses, my first-grade students will continue using the Lakeshore Flex-Space Mobile Tray Storage Centers to organize their materials. By managing their own supplies, students will learn about the importance of responsibility and they will develop good habits as young scholars.

My first-grade students will also understand that staying organized benefits their learning and builds skills that will support their learning success both now in first-grade and in the future grades.”

  • Technology on the Move

    Funded Oct 27, 2022

The use of technology during whole-class instruction can foster student engagement for auditory and visual learners. Integrating simple technologies Power Points, games, internet homework assignments, or online grading systems can be difference makers in students' growth in the classroom. Students have used been using technology in the classroom because of the charger that was purchased. Unfortunately the computer cart that was ordered was broken and students not able to use it. Fortunately, the computer cart was replaced by Classic Birch Big Bins See-Inside Storage Unit - 9 Cubby. The Classic Birch Bins Storage Units have been amazing! Students have been able to have a growing sense of responsibility and independence. The storage unit has helped my students with organization skills because they would know exactly where the hands-on materials are and where they need to be stored when they are not in use.

The Classic Birch Big Bins See-Inside Storage Unit has been a game changer in my classroom!

Once again thank you so much for your generosity because thanks to you the clutter in the classroom is kept to a minimum and the learning to a maximum."”

I would like to thank you so much for contributing to our "Breaking the Code with Mirror My Sounds" project.

Our mirrors were delivered after school. When my students arrived the next day and saw the boxes on the rug, they were very excited to start the practice. My students were able to use the built-in phonics flashcards to mirror the picture sound on the phonics cards. This has helped them practice the sounds that I was introducing.

I would like to thank you so much for contributing to our classroom rug.

For the past couple of weeks my third grade students have been able to go to the rug and sit during whole group learning and independent practice. This rug has become a key component for my students' learning. Now, they are in a comfortable place in which they can collaborate, further class discussions, and/or work independently.

Again, thank you so much for supporting my classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Jovel

Since the beginning of the school year, my students have been sitting and working on an old stained rug. They know that when we come and work on the rug we are collaborating and we are focused building a community that helps each other thrive. On the rug we work on being respectful, peaceful, kind, and most importantly we focus on building on each other’s potential. A rug will help my students be in charge of their learning while making choices that work for them and the classroom. During whole group and independent practice students are able to sit where they feel more comfortable. This rug would be a key component for my students' learning because they would be in a comfortable place in which they can collaborate, further class discussions, and/or work independently.
