  • Improve Our Lights and Improve Our Lives!

    Dear Donors:

    Thank you so much for your donations to help fund "Improve Our Lights and Improve Our Lives!" The light covers have created a calmness in our classroom. This has been beneficial for students with ADHD or who suffer from headaches. I have noticed a difference while students are reading. They are able to read for longer periods of time and concentrate.

    When the students first saw the light covers some were surprised and some were not. Many have had experience with the light covers in previous classes. When we talked about their purpose they all started discussing how bright and uncomfortable the old, fluorescent lights were.

    Our whole class is thankful for the donations. I look forward to seeing it positively impact students for years to come!”

In our classroom we currently have soft-white fluorescent lights and because we are windowless we are required to have our lights on throughout the day. It has been proven that these bulbs cause stress to the eyes, headaches, and anxiety which directly interrupts focus and learning. These covers will create a more calm classroom by lessening the glare from the overhead lights. We do a lot of reading in my class so it is is my hope that the covers will help to improve attention and give the students an even greater chance of being successful on a day to day basis.

About my class
