  • We Gotta Start Somewhere !

    Funded May 8, 2024

With school just starting, we are just opening up our new supplies! The students are so excited to come back to a new school year and have a fresh start in the Art classroom. From the colored pencils to the paint, each of my students will be impacted by our new supplies.

On day two, students were anxious to try out the new colored pencils. The students asked " Mrs. Jarrell, Did you find a new set of colored pencils for us to try, that blend better?" It may not seem like a lot, but seeing how excited they were just to try them out was worth it. My big end of the 9 weeks project for 8th grade is to paint ceiling tiles. They look forward to this, all through middle school. Every 8th grade class does this so I have roughly, 80 students painting and as you can imagine supplies dwindle fast. I haven't done clay with my students in awhile so I'm as anxious as they are to try that out.

All grade levels will have a special project with these supplies and it's because of you, that it's possible. As always, I greatly appreciate your donation and support for the Arts.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Jarrell

  • Sturdy Tables for Strapping Teens

    Funded May 3, 2022

My tables ended up being out of stock, however I was able to purchase a Cricut station for my students to use to create school spirit merchandise in my classroom! This project has given my students a glimpse in to what it takes to be an entrepreneur and they love seeing their creations come to life. I could have never accomplished this without your help and I am so excited that this is something that can be done more than once and won't require any more income. I am so thankful for your generosity!”

  • Flexible Seating for Creative Thinkers

    Funded Feb 17, 2022

This grant made it possible to purchase the remaining seating I needed for my classroom! The stools are comfortable, bright, and it makes my classroom look like an inviting art room. I really feel like I've achieved what I set out to and that it was successful.

When my students first saw the rest of our stools they got very excited. We were finally able to get rid of the mismatched chairs, and our stools we received completed the color pattern, so they got to see some colors we didn't previously have. We now have the primary and secondary colors as well as black and white which makes organization of groups easier, as well as having a visual representation of a concept we go over in class.

I currently have a grant to receive the rest of my tables. When the tables are all purchased the room will be completely transformed but we are off to a great start and nearing the finish line. When new students or other educators walk in my room they always look around and say " This is what an art room should look like!".”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Jarrell

  • Let's Color the Art Room, Chairs and All!

    Funded Apr 28, 2021

I am feeling overwhelmed at the generosity of everyone who has helped me in the transition of my classroom! This project is very important to me because, I really believe enviorment means so much to my students, especially those who don't have the best home environment.

My students absolutely loved the new seating we received! We didn't quite get all we needed but I'm trying to break it up in to smaller amounts. Transitioning a classroom doesn't come cheap. With all the support receiving, I see our dream classroom being completed very soon. I've had nothing but positive feedback from the stools for both color and comfort.

We have already received 4 tables and 13 stools, thanks to donors choose! We are now working to raise money for 8 more stools with my current project. 8 stools and 8 tables to go, wish us luck.”

  • Let’s Get Space to Create!

    Funded Apr 28, 2021

This grant fulfilled two new tables for my classroom! We have recently switched out the majority of our seating with colorful new high top stools, These tables are the perfect match and give our classroom such a clean artistic look. The students' bodies are more suited to the new furniture and it is much sturdier.

When the boxes arrived I let the students open them, they were so excited! My students worked together and read and followed instructions to help assemble the tables. When the tables went up, they were even more excited because they had helped put them together.

My next step for our classroom is to completely refurnish, chairs and tables. This year, through several grants, I have raised over $1,500 on donors choose to bring this dream to life. I'm still only about halfway to my goal however, I will keep going until it's done! I am so thankful for the donors and donors choose for helping make this dream a reality, I could not have done this without every single donation I received.”

    With gratitude,

  • Grabbing a Seat at the Art Table

    Funded Feb 1, 2021

Our new seating for the classroom was a big hit with my students. When they first arrived, they were very excited and could not wait to try them out! The vibrant colors really brighten up our classroom and make it a more inviting environment for an Art students.

They are much more comfortable than the seating they replaced. My students and I are greatly appreciative of every donation we received.

This was my first grant using DonorsChoose and the amount of support and generosity of friends as well as complete strangers left me flabbergasted. Without your support it would not have been possible. It is my hope to replace all the old seating and tables in my classroom and this was a great start.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Jarrell
