The use of our voices is a daily necessity in the classroom. However, sometimes the noise level is not always an appropriate volume for the classroom environment and becomes a distraction. I would love to see my students learn how to regulate their noise levels on their own without my constant nagging about the volume in the classroom being to loud. I believe that having a Yacker Tracker as a visual aid will help them with this learning target tremendously. By donating to this project, you will not only help improve self-regulation in first graders, you will ultimately help increase their academic achievement due to a lack of distractions in the room. I had a teacher in elementary school with a noise level monitor exactly like this and I remember thinking it was the coolest thing in the world. I chose a monitor like this to catch my students' attention and to increase their buy-in for the idea of controlling their own volume.
