Reading With Technology to Succeed
Funded Jan 14, 2019I can't express how grateful I am for your support! Thanks to your donations my students have access to hundreds of books at their individual reading levels. My students are now able to read books at home, in their cars, at the doctor's office, really anywhere! How exciting is that! Not only can they use the Raz Kids program at home, but they also love using it at school during our computer lab time. Before my students would tell me they didn't have books to read and now, even my reluctant students can't wait to read.
Some of the exciting features of this program besides accessibility, is the fact that students can hear the books and get definitions for difficult words with just a click. They can also record themselves reading and what's more amazing is that I can listen to them and provide feedback.
Finally, they can take quizzes on their reading. The quizzes are great because the include multiple choice and a short response.
There is no end to the positives in acquiring Raz kids. My students of all levels love it. It even works for my new non-English speakers because I can assign them books in English, as well as in their native language. It provides me with a way In which I can ensure that all my students have access to reading books and, therefore, they can improve their reading skills. Mission: Coding to Learn
Funded May 3, 2018My students and I are so grateful for your support in making this project come to life. As you can see from the pictures we have started learning with our robots, but are still at the beginning stages and in the discovery mode.
The Botley robots are providing my students with exciting new knowledge on how coding technology works and gives them a jump start into the next step which will be coding online. They are loving it and look forward to "play with Botley" every Friday. Once they understand how coding works I will be taking them to our most exhilarating goal of programming a Vex robot to follow commands. I can't wait to see their faces light up when they can program on their own!
The ultimate goal with all this learning is to provide my students and other students at my school with the opportunity to experience the technology of today and hopefully to spark interest in future in careers involving engineering and anything technology based.

Funded Dec 7, 2016I have to start by saying that you have truly made a difference in my classroom! I can't get over how much the bouncy bands have helped my students focus. It's provided my students with a way to let their energy be redirected into their studies, rather than the distractions around them.
The day my students walked into class and first noticed the bands was a very exciting day. They couldn't help themselves and immediately put their feet on the bands, all while commenting how nice, fun, and relaxing they were. Once the initial enthusiasm calmed down, we proceeded to discuss the purpose of the bands. That conversation provoked more excitement and many comments agreeing that the bands would be helpful to focus them on their school work. Ever since that day my students have used the bands to get their wiggles out and are performing much better! Many of my students have told me how the bands help them rest their feet and relax when they are taking a test.
My kids and are very grateful for your contributions and support to make my classroom a more efficient and pleasant place to learn. We will continue using the bouncy bands to focus and continue our academic growth this school year.”
