Funded Oct 7, 2023Thank you so much for the gift of a years subscription to Scholastic News and Science Spin. The students love it. We use Scholastic News for the current events and relevant news stories. WE use the Science Spin for science topic discussions and exploring. We use the magazine weekly as part of our reading block. The students are learning more about nonfiction topics and events currently happening around the world. It is written for the children and on their level of understanding. I love that scholastic has so many extras on their website and even provides a digital copy so I can pull it up on the smart board. Thank you for providing my students this opportunity of reading.”

Dashing Along
Funded Dec 3, 2019Your generous donations to our project Dashing Along is greatly appreciated. It really has stepped up our STEM time. The students love the dash and all the fun things it can do. They are learning coding and content at the same time. They are creating they amazing codes for the dash to complete. They are learning that mistakes are part of the learning and creating process. That through the mistakes we can learn what we can do better and what to not to do. They are learning to work together on a task. They are realizing that they all have a common goal and that is to get dash to do something. It is really amazing to see the joy on their face when that see the dash complete the task they programmed
Thank you for giving my students such a wonderful experience.”

Funded Dec 1, 2022While this school year looks different than last year, and very different from the years before, we still strive to make the best of it for our students. One of the favorite activities in our class is our enrichment time. A period of time on Friday, when student who have gotten all their work done can explore, build and play. Most of my students were impacted by the pandemic in their pre-K and Kindergarten years. A time when they can explore and learn through play. I can now print out the photos of their builds and creations so they can share them with their families. It allows me to spend the time planning and not running around the building to find a printer. Thank you for your generosity and kind heart.”

Funded Nov 4, 2022While this school year looks different than last year, and very different from the years before, we still strive to make the best of it for our students. One of the favorite activities in our class is our enrichment time. A period of time on Friday, when student who have gotten all their work done can explore, build and play. Most of my students were impacted by the pandemic in their pre-K and Kindergarten years. A time when they can explore and learn through play. Unfortunately they are now in second grade and the expectations have not changed and the learning and curriculum is more demanding. Having these supplies will allow my students to be organized and become excited about learning again.”

Clean Body and Soul
Funded Oct 18, 2022Thank you so much for your donation to our project "Clean Body and Soul". We received a three pack of the book Little Spot of SEL, 25 packs of face wipes, a class set of calming strips and 12 bottles of dial foam soap. So many goodies in one box. The children were so excited to see me open the box.
The Face wipes are amazing. They allow me the opportunity to quietly give a child a wipe so they can wash their face. Either the milk from breakfast or the leftover bits of lunch. They have come in handy. The soap also is great. We have 2 sinks in our classroom. I'm not afraid to do messy projects now since we have easy ways to clean it all up.
The calm strips were great while they lasted. The students did like to rub the strip with their finger and enjoyed the sensory input. Unfortunately the after school students using out room also liked them and we had a big issue of them being taken off the desks. The SEL books have been great for the students to use and read about different emotions and know that they will be okay. I even gave some to our SEL teacher to use.”

PS 119 To the Resuce
Funded Aug 24, 2019Thank you for your generous donation. We did not receive the original box for the rescue kit. We did receive a kit all about viruses 🦠 and oddly enough it coincided with the beginning of the Covid 19 pandemic. So with the 5th graders we're we're discovering how viruses spread and what they looked like. The students were fascinated and really into our learning and discovery. Unfortunately we closed school March 2020 and we're not able to finish the entire unit. But your donation went to great use and we have the kit to continue teaching future classes.”

Funded Mar 6, 2019Thank you for your generous dontations so I could have a printer in my classroom. It really has had an impact on my teaching and classroom experiences. Words can not express how grateful my class and myself are for your donation. We have been using computers to type and complete projects but have not been able to print anything. All the students would save their work on flash drives which limit their ability to physically see their work. When we did get a chance to print the work it would be only in black and white. Now we have a great colored printer in the classroom to print all our amazing projects.
This printer arrived at a great time. The students were creating with legos. They didnt want to take apart their creations. I had been taking photos of them, but had no where to print them. Now we did and I could sent them away with their photo of their creation with smiles on their faces.
I was also able to print out certificates for all the students in color. The students were very proud of their work. Thank you so much for helping me provide an unforgettable experience for my students."”

STEM-ing with LEGOs
Funded Nov 27, 2018Words cannot express my gratitude towards your generosity. The donation of the legos to our STEAM Class has really made an impact. The students were so excited to see the boxes of legos. They couldn't wait to get their hands into the tubs and just touch them. The colors are inviting and promote creativity and the use of their imagination.
I have been using the legos to allow the students to be creative. I found challenge cards online that can give them ideas, if their minds are blank. The legos actually came with a few task cards. The students have been diving into the tubs of legos. I sometimes have to ask some to stop rolling their hands though the legos because it gets too noisy.
Legos promote creativity. They allow the imagination to flow. It helps with fine motor skills and eye - hand coordination. I will continue to use the legos as a center for the students to go to for challenges. I will also, use the legos for STEAM challenges. Our hearts are full of gratitude and love for your kindness and generosity. Thank you for choosing our project to support and thank you for supporting teachers like me.”
