  • Calming Area

    Funded Apr 6, 2023

    My students absolutely love the calming area. They use it to calm their emotions, relax after a stressful situation, or simply to enjoy a brain break from the daily tasks at school. They especially love the cute and comfortable animal pillows and fidget toys. My students love coming in from recess to draw and write in their writing journals. They actually look forward to it everyday!

    Thank you so much for contributing to this amazing resource. Having this technological tool has truly benefited my instruction as a teacher for various reasons. With this great resource I was able to attend and participate in professional development trainings that introduced me to to many application tools used on iPads.

    I have begun to develop presentations for vocabulary lessons using Prezi as well as developing iMovie projects using the iMovie application.

    Students at my school have also benefited from this professional development project through multiple engaging lessons and activities that I have been creating for them.

They are using programs that improve their reading fluency, comprehension, vocabulary development, writing conventions, and math skills. My students are a wonderful group of first graders who come to school eager to learn every day. This age group has a short attention span and learn best by active, hands-on exploration and discovery. Our school population is economically challenged. Although our parents are hard working people and want the best for their children, their resources are very limited. Their financial hardship makes it difficult to provide technology at home.
