  • Blanketeers to the Rescue...on a Mission!

    Funded Aug 26, 2024

Thank you so much for your incredible support of my students and classroom. We were finally able to assemble the blankets last week and the children were beyond proud of themselves. They worked hard-many of them learning how to tie knots for the first time and overcame a significant amount of frustration. They had to work collaboratively to complete a blanket in order to be successful.

We had a lot of conversations leading up to this project to discuss the value in giving to others and how simple gestures can make a big impact for someone else. The children chatted quietly with each other as they worked, pondering how the child that receives their blanket would feel and many of them gave the blanket a big squeeze to "hug" the other child that will be on the receiving end of the dedication.

Children at this age are just learning that other people have feelings and thoughts and this project does so much to expand their compassion towards others who are experiencing a hard time. Thank you so much for helping me instill this love of giving in my students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hurley

  • Ink for Students 7

    Funded Aug 27, 2024

Thank you so much for your generous support of my students. Ink is not the most exciting school supply item, but it is definitely one of the most frequently used. As a teacher of small students, I do not have the freedom to simply leave the class unattended to walk to the office to make a copy or retrieve a document sent to the printer, so having an all-in-one machine in the classroom has been a lifesaver!

The school year is still brand new, but I have already put our printer to good use! The best use so far has been with a former student. This child is not always eager to complete assignments, but loves sharing their work. A reward for completing their work is bringing it around to show their "special adults". I copy the work and put it on my wall for my little students to admire and compliment them on. We are only a few days in, and my wall is already getting full! The printer is essential in helping build this child's sense of pride and accomplishment!

    Thank you so much!”

  • Ipads for Compassionate Kids

    Funded Jun 16, 2024

I just received the new iPads and set them up yesterday. I will be teaching the children the proper use of the devices in the next few days and then they will be off! Students will be using these devices daily, accessing programs that have the ability to differentiate the learning to meet the needs of each and every individual child.

In addition to the daily use, I am very excited to use these devices alongside the Blanketeers community service project. The children take such pride in helping and supporting others, and I think this element to the project will be just as rewarding.

Thank you for helping make this project a reality!"”

  • An Apple a Day =Learning Our Way Pt.4

    Funded Apr 22, 2024

Students will be using these devices daily, accessing programs that have the ability to differentiate the learning to meet the needs of each and every individual child.

This individualized approach makes sure that my students are able to work to their full potential. When the learning is just what they need, they feel such pride and sense of accomplishment in their work.

Thank you for helping make this project a reality!”

  • Fresh Start for 2nd Grade

    Funded May 11, 2024

Thank you so much for your incredible support of my classroom. We have just started the year and the students are learning how to use all their new classroom materials! They are enthusiastic and happy to be back at school. And I am thrilled to be able to provide the materials they need to be successful.

To be able to provide everything the children need, without placing the burden on families with already stretched finances, creates a positive and engaging environment. I don't have students upset or embarrassed that they don't have pencils and crayons-they simply reach into the basket and grab what they need! This is huge for so many children, removing one obstacle from their way.

Thank you again for all your help and support making my classroom one that reaches all my students!”

  • I Can Hear It!

    Funded May 7, 2024

Thank you so much for your generous support of my classroom and students!

These headphones are an essential part of our daily routine in second grade, from listening to stories, watching informational videos, and even having directions repeated to them. However, this frequent usage means that they do occasionally break and need to be replaced.

Students have already begun using these headphones, not only for our daily activities, but to support their access to online testing as well. Headphones allow students to hear the directions repeatedly until they understand what is being asked of them.

Thank you so much for your help!!”

  • Lively Learners Part 2

    Funded May 11, 2024

Thank you so much for supporting my classroom and students. Having engaging curriculum materials can make or break a lesson. Some curriculum standards can be a little dry, so I am always looking to find a way to make the material fresh and exciting.

I have already used the gift cards to purchase reading and math activities. The reading activities that I bought are for building fluency using a simple but exciting game. The math lessons I purchased are extending the classroom learning we are doing because the children were having so much fun with it!

Thank you so much for all your help!”

  • Ready to Read (Decodable Books!)

    Funded May 11, 2024

Thank you so much for supporting my incredible little learners. My students work so hard and are always eager to apply what they are learning in class. However, this can be a challenge when students are having difficulty learning how to read. Those children work so hard to master each skill, but in order to practice and build both fluency and confidence, they are stuck practicing with boring stories.

This project is a step towards making a more inclusive classroom library-now my students of all levels are able to find a fun and engaging book to practice their reading skills with!

Thank you so much for your help!”

  • Special Stories for Special Students

    Funded May 2, 2024

Thank you so much for your thoughtful support for my amazing students. They say that children "now 'a' days" are different, but each and every day my students show me exactly who they are- sweet, kind, incredible human beings. I am beyond lucky to be able to spend 180 days with them.

These books will help my students learn about how their emotions work and how best to regulate themselves when they become upset. They will learn how to feed their brains positive thoughts and how to train themselves to make small steps towards a bigger goal.

These small, but powerful, lessons set them up for success not only in second grade or school, but for life.”

Our school is an inviting warm environment for students to learn. We take pride in our ability to meet the needs of all students, ensuring that our children are able to thrive. Individuality is celebrated and students are able to access our curriculum in the manner that best supports their learning. I teach an inclusion second grade classroom. This year my classroom consists of 21 energetic students who come to school everyday eager to learn. I believe that students learn best when they are having fun, so laughter and humor is a must. In addition, I know that students need to move! We coordinate curriculum to kinesthetic cues to improve retention of information and incorporate brain breaks to "get our wiggles out!"
