  • Paper Collage Project

    Funded Oct 19, 2016

Thank you all for your prompt and generous help! My students are very excited about creating their personal family tree and family collage. And thanks to you, they will have quality supplies and a memorable learning experience. It's going to be a wonderful opportunity for them to express their creativity and to present it to their peers. Oral presentation is a great way to promote language development. I can't wait to hear our students introduce their family members in Mandarin. Once again, thank you for your amazing support!”

  • Pencil Sharpener

    Funded Dec 16, 2015

How can one live without breathing?

How can a child write without a pencil?

And how can a pencil be useful without a pencil sharpener?

Our class of 30 first graders have benefited GREATLY from this powerful electric pencil sharpener? Each student goes through the pencil so quickly on an hourly rate, that if we don't have this awesome gift, it would be impossible to carry one.

My students have been so tired of cranking the mechanic pencil sharpener that doesn't get its job done properly. And I've been so frustrated w/ the noise level that it creates. When we received this generous gift, we all shouted with a loud scream. My students couldn't wait to write more, produce more work, so that they can use the electric pencil sharpener!

Now that the school year has completed, and this group of first graders are ready to move on to 2nd grade. We have agreed to leave the electric pencil sharpener with me, so that the incoming first graders from kinder can be benefited by this wonderful tool in the classroom.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hsiao

  • Papers Emergency

    Funded Aug 26, 2013

Thank you for your generous donation of all the unique papers. We love the colors, the textures, and the endless ways of creating art with them. Many of the art projects we've done have been framed by the proud parents. Through these art activities, the students had a chance to use art language, apply art concepts, and appreciate the wide range of artistic styles.

We have more projects lined up for the rest of the school years. Your donation will make these projects a reality. In fact, these beautiful papers are stored up, and used wisely, for the future classes. Thank you! :)”

  • Let There Be Art

    Funded Aug 26, 2013

Thank you for believing in the importance of arts in the lives of our young children. With the fabulous art supplies you've donated to us, we were able to journey into the magical world of visual arts. Academically, as a teacher, I was able to utilize the materials to produce meaningful language arts lesson, combined with arts, to attract students' attention. I have a few more projects lined up for the rest of the school year. We can't wait to explore the different media and create unique art pieces. Thank you! :)”

  • Electronic Pencil Sharpener

    Funded Sep 11, 2013

Thank you for the donation of the fabulous electronic pencil sharpener!

It really makes learning more effective in the classroom. My students can now have quick access to well equipped writing tools. They no longer need to complain and wait for the pencils to get sharpen. This is especially important to us, since our classroom is a Mandarin Dual Language class. My students are constantly writing both Chinese characters and sentences in English. Once again, on be half of the entire class, we shout out a loud "THANK YOU" to you all! :)”

  • Speak & Sing In Mandarin!

    Funded Jan 1, 2013

My students had an amazing performance using the sound system you gave us. Our auditorium was filled with music and the "ooo"s and the "ahhhh"s of our audience. With the sound system, all the teachers worked together to put together an end of the year performance. All the acting and speaking were done in both Mandarin and English, from K-5th grade. We were able to download Chinese music to enhance the cultural aspect of the performance. All in all, we had a great success. We plan to further utilize the sound system in the classroom as we listen, speak, and record more Mandarin! Thank you! :)”

  • Chinese on Galaxy

    Funded Feb 1, 2012

Thank you for your support of the Mandarin Dual Language Program via technology. As our children live in the world of constant upgrading technology, education also needs to catch on with the trend. Through your donation of the Galaxy, we are in constant search for the best applications that will promote meaningful learning. Some of the activities we have found helpful are:

    1. Listening to sentence structures and practice saying it.

    2. Reviewing high frequency words.

    3. Practicing writing strokes in the right order.

Thank you once again for your vision and support of MDLP.”

  • Motor Up!

    Funded Dec 11, 2011

Thank you for your support in this project!

My students couldn't wait to get their little hands on all the great learning tools.

The writing tools made writing much more exciting than just pencils and papers.

The logic puzzles encouraged them to think and articulate.

The rest of the manipulative enriched our classroom culture and brought everyone closer together.

We are truly grateful for making this dream a reality for our class.

The positive impact you have made will last a life time. ”
