  • Writing Center Blues!

    Funded May 25, 2024

Thank you for all of your donations to our project. We have a large classroom, but not a lot of usable space for centers. This project allowed me to set up a designated space for a writing center. The tabletop writing center has room for all of our writing materials.

In our tabletop writing center, we have markers, crayons, pencils, bingo dabbers, scissors, paper, construction paper, letter stamps and an ink pad. Students enjoy using the different tools be creative with expressing their thoughts on paper. They especially love practicing writing their names!

The two projects getting funded at the same time has really given us a great opportunity to develop writing skills for the future! Thank you all so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Collins

  • Classroom Organization Blues

    Funded Jun 6, 2024

Thanks family! I appreciate your donations to my class. All of you came through for me by coming together to raise this money to fund my project. You guys are amazing and I am so grateful for having you as my family.

You're amazing! I couldn't have asked for a better family!”

  • Explore and Learn!

    Funded Aug 2, 2023

Thank you so much for your donations! My students have truly enjoyed working with the texture brushes during table art time. The finished products are always the main topic of our end-of-the-day recap conversations. The students have also enjoyed building vehicles with the vehicle building center. I never really imagined how creative they could be if given an opportunity and the right tools.

We haven't yet used the bridge building center. It has smaller pieces that we haven't learned how to use safely. The sand has been a fun tool for exploration at the sand and water table.

We appreciate all of the extra tools that we have now thanks to your donations!”

  • Creativity Central!

    Funded Nov 30, 2022

When we first received the paint and the easel, my students were so excited! They wanted to go to the art center every day! Of course, we had to practice appropriate behavior in the center first.

Students have been drawing thick and thin lines when we were talking about comparison words, shapes in our shapes lessons and now, spring drawings and free expression art. Watching their development over time has been an awesome thing to see. Many students only started with a dot or two in their drawings using only one color. Now, you can see suns and rainbows and family members and friends in their drawings.

Next week, students will begin charting their plants' growth in their journals. The final project will be a "before and after" drawing at the easel. I can't wait to see the detail in their drawings!”

    With gratitude,

  • Busy Little Fingers

    Funded Aug 20, 2022

First off, thank you so much for your donations! My students helped me unpack all of the materials. They were so excited to see all of the colorful beads with laces, the Gumball Grab game and Play-doh tools!

My students have been using the Play-doh tools every day to make all kinds of creations. I have a group of students that I'm working with on "pencil grip" practice. So, the Gumball Grab game has really helped to strengthen their little fingers. Most of them are able to "read" the words lose and take on the cards even though they don't really know the words.

Their handwriting has truly improved. Their confidence has gone up and they're creating more than just pizza with their Play-doh.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Collins

  • Hands-On Is the Way to Go! (Part 2)

    Funded Aug 21, 2018

Thank you so much for your donations. We received the materials a few weeks ago, before my students were actually ready for independent centers. The kids were so excited! They kept telling me that they were ready to use the materials even though they didn't know the skills. I told them that they would have to wait. Now that we have learned a few skills, we're better able to use all of the center games and activities that your donations helped to buy.

When students finish their whole group assignment, they choose a center activity from the shelf. The rhyming and syllables activities are among the favorites. Students can practice on their own or with a partner.

The best part about it all for me is that they have so many choices thanks to your donations!”

  • Hands-On Learning Is The Way To Go!

    Funded Aug 23, 2018

Thank you for your donations. We were so excited when we received all of the math materials for our centers and independent learning time.

My students have enjoyed practicing counting and comparing numbers using the ready made centers. We just started working with identifying and sorting shapes. So, the students are looking forward to using that center.

We have done some work with addition. The kids really enjoy the addition centers. They say that the centers make them feel really smart because they can do the work all by themselves.

Thank you once again for your donations.”

  • Shape Up!

    Funded Sep 25, 2016

Thank you so much for your donations. When the boxes came, I unpacked them with my students. They were so excited that they wanted to open everything right away. My assistant and I immediately began setting up centers for the students to use our new materials. I also did several whole class lessons using some of the items.

The kids really took off with their creativity when we began discussing 3d shapes. They asked if they could try to build a cube using the "Dive into Shapes" kit. It was awesome listening to them discuss the attributes of the shapes as they were building!

I've always believed in guided exploration. But with these manipulatives, the students were guiding their own learning and thinking. My class will never be the same.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Collins

I teach in a public school in a famous city. Most of my students are poor and have very little materials to write with at home. For many of them, kindergarten is the first time they get to hold a pencil, a marker or even a crayon. Teaching children to write using proper form and spacing is a challenge when so many of them first have to be taught how to hold a pencil, crayon and/or marker properly.
