Can You Help Us Get A Laptop?
Funded Oct 5, 2018Thank you very much for donating the laptop. Our students were so excited to learn about adding technology to some of their areas of study. We have been able to add this to out technology station for math. The students are able to watch a video and answer trivia questions in math class. They loved to be able to do this.
We also are able to use the laptop for research during the IIM period, which helps teach the students how to independtly research topics from the Internet correctly. The students love to be able to use technology as during class.
We appreciate the donation and are truly grateful to be able to have this for our students.”

Paper, Post-Its, and Pencils, Please
Funded Dec 11, 2018We would like to thank you very much for donating all of the material needed to help the students successfully complete their assignments.
The post-its have been amazing for the students. We have been able to use the post its to create comments and feedback on the students published pieces. The post-its are added to their writing and the students are able to use our comments and remember our suggestions for their next assignment. We are also able to use the post-its during reading. The students are able to use the post it to write down what they noticed in the stories that they are reading, such as character traits, settings, thoughts and predictions. They are able to also to create mini anchor charts in their notebooks to help them develop a theme or main idea and the reason behind them.
The students are using the paper given as draft paper to prepare them for publishing their essays. The pencils given are a huge help since most students are constantly in need of one in every subject.”

Funded Aug 22, 2018Thank you very much for all of the materials that were given to fill our classroom with anchors charts. As you know, anchor charts are very important and help the students build what they already learned. We have been able to create anchor charts together as a class by collaborating all the students thoughts on units such as cause and effect, journalism and argumentative writing.
The anchor charts were also highly effective in both math classes as well. The students are now focusing on algebra and geometry working on variables, area, and volume. It is wonderful to have the formulas written on the charts, so they may have access to them at all times.
Thank you again for being able to provide us with the materials needed to create such necessary guides for our students.”

Funded Mar 27, 2018How can I begin explaining how much you all have impacted my students' school year by supporting this project? With all of the school budget cuts happening across the city, the paper supply available for teachers at my school has been extremely limited. You all have allowed me to be able to make copies of workbooks for my students to use when our textbooks were not delivered on time. This project has offered my students many opportunities to print out their reports and presentations they worked so hard on. My students have enough paper to last them the rest of the school year for all of their academic classes. I have been able to provide my students' parents with newsletters to keep them up-to-date with our monthly happenings and my students have created informational books and brochures with the ink and paper for several class' presentations. I am so grateful for all of your support.”

Funded Mar 27, 2018Thank you so much for supporting my project with your generous donation and support. Thank you so much for understanding that my students would benefit from Hooki stools for flexible seating to establish and support teaching tolerance in my classroom. I am so happy that I am able to offer options for seating for my students with ADHD. My students who need to fidget and have difficulty sitting still will be able to move around during instruction time without distracting others. You have help me accommodate the diverse needs of my amazing students. I appreciate you!”

Funded Oct 21, 2017Thank you for supporting my students with interesting and outstanding books. This project focused on my students who were struggling in reading. As a fourth grade special education teacher, it is always challenging to find books that are appropriate for my for my students who are not grade level readers. I have often heard them say things like "this is a baby book" and "I hate reading". This project gave me resources that were interesting and out of the ordinary repetitive books my students were accustomed to seeing. You all have help to spark their desire to read. I am please to announce that all of my students have moved up to a higher reading level. I owe big thanks to you!”

Funded Dec 18, 2017Thank you for supporting my students on this project. As you know, the world is ever changing and I always try to find ways to keep my students engaged in their learning. The iPads have been a wonderful resource for my class. Many of my students have special learning needs and some are reading at a 1st and 2nd grade level. The difficulty and frustrated that my students faced when reading was largely due to processing issues. Downloading books on the iPad for audio learning and using interactive websites such as ReadingA-Z.com has turned reading time into a fun, learning filled experience. I am glad to share that my students' reading levels have improved greatly. Even my assistant principal was impressed with my class' growth. I owe a big thank you to all of you. Thank you for believing in my students.”

Technology Needed for Research
Funded Jan 20, 2018Thank you so much for your support to my students and classroom. Having these chromebooks have allowed my students with special needs to access online reading books and websites to help improve their reading levels. My entire class have been able to create a technology corner with these chromebooks to research topics we have been studying to add information to their reports. My students flock to the chromebooks to watch documentaries about history and the world around them during group work time to help make lessons more interesting. Thank you so much for allowing us to have technology in a class that lacks it. Your support is appreciated.”

Learning in Centers With Technology
Funded Mar 27, 2018Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I honestly do not think I can thank you enough for supporting this project and bringing it to life. For the first time in my entire teaching career can I say that my teaching methods and styles have dramatically changed in such a short time span. Having chromebooks in my classroom has allowed me to be able to teach math in centers with rotations. Instead of teaching lessons to the entire class as a whole, and risk losing the interest of some of my students, I am now able to use these chromebooks as a center for a few students at a time, until it is their turn to meet with me for the day's lesson.
While on the laptops, my students are learning math through the interactive online lesson. So they are having fun while learning. After 15 minutes of a math tutorial online, my students are confident in their pre-lesson knowledge that they're more engaged and willing to participate in class. Furthermore, students who still have struggles after my lesson, are more independently inclined to go onto the laptops and click on the math tutor for assistance. My students are extremely excited and eager to learn math each day. You made it all possible. Thank you again!”
