  • Brain Games to Challenge Brainiacs

    Funded Mar 13, 2023

What a wonderful class you have helped to create! This week, we spent a class period researching and learning to play these brain-based, critical-thinking games and I was able to witness all the things I hoped for in my grant. We had students thinking deeply, helping one another, laughing in group games, and building community. A group of my students is already studying evidence from the CSI "Who Done It" mystery- and they were so fully engaged as they worked together to try weed through the forensics case. My Hispanic students were helping my English-speaking students in the Kloo game and everyone was having a wonderful time. Thank you so much for helping to bring these games into my classroom!”

  • Finch Robotics: Adding Computer Science Across Curriculums

    Funded Nov 30, 2022

Thank you so much for your gift of the Finch Robots. They are a unique element to our classroom and the kids and I really love them. The robots are amazing in that they perform in real time the commands that you give it. Students have grown up coding on computer programs and watching an avatar move for them; however, there is something very special about holding the robot and seeing and manipulating it in real time. So far, we have incorporated geometry into our challenges as students work to code the robots to move along geometric shapes. We are grateful for generous donors such as yourself!”

  • Adding Sublimation Art Through Economics!

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

Thank you so much for the sublimation supplies! We have students now utilizing their graphic design skillsets to create custom mugs, tshirts, sweatshirts, denim jackets, etc. We are also able to help a few other district groups! Our EAST school team is going to have us make their Conference Team Tshirts and our feeder Junior High Robotics Team has also sought out our help to make their Team shirts as they will compete at nationals! I am grateful for your donations for my students, but am also thankful that we are able to give back and reflect that generosity allowing many other students to benefit from your financial gift. Thank you so much!”

  • Stem Gifted Exploration: Turing Tumble Mechanical Computer Study

    Funded Feb 14, 2023

WOW! Thank you so much for your generous gift of the Turing Tumble Mechanical Computers and extra pieces. I set them out yesterday and introduced them to the class. I told students we would do a couple of challenges and then if they wanted to move onto a different activity they could.... ZERO students left the Turing Tumble once they started. I had parent/teacher conferences last night and EVERY student took their parents to this station and explained the challenges... many students stayed over 30 minutes as they chose to continue trying to pass challenges (with their parents in my room). Not only did it build community between my students, it successfully bridged conversations between students and parents as well as between parents and myself. What an amazing program we now can offer thanks to your generosity! Thank you so much!”

  • Not on My Watch: Securing Our Classroom from Intruders

    Funded Sep 20, 2022

Thank you so much for the security equipment to protect my classroom from intruders. My classroom is an "inside room" meaning we do not have access to the outside by window or door. In the chance of an intrusion, checking the hallway would put all the students in my classroom at a potential risk. Knowing that I can securely lock down my room- gives me absolute peace of mind. The front door has a holster for the lever, a buddy for the door handle and a frame for the floor. There is no way that door will open. The back door now has a door frame extender and door knob lock. These devices will allow us to take cover carefully in the case of any emergency. Thank you so much for caring about the safety of my students!”

  • STEM Fashion Merchandising Through Sublimation

    Funded Feb 21, 2022

Thank you so much for impacting our STEM Fashion Merchandising Through Sublimation class. Students have been learning about our class store and they have been given the challenge to work on a few projects. The first project is to design accessories and items that can sell in our class store. The second project is a long-term project. In this project students are allowed to choose one final project that they may want to design (jean jacket, jeans, bag, hat, etc.). Students will be allowed to design their project and transfer their image to their base/accessory of choice. My students are thrilled about this. We also serve a high poverty area and I have let them know that they can make birthday and Christmas presents in here if they just supply the items. For instance, they can buy mugs at the dollar store and transfer images onto the mugs that say something like "World's best mom" for Mother's Day, etc. My students were extremely excited about his possibility and the potential to be able to make quality items for their loved ones special days. They would not be in a position to do this with out you. I am just now comfortable with the equipment and so our students will begin using it soon, but I wanted to make sure I told you guys "thank you". The equipment will bless them through our curriculum, but also provide opportunities to enrich their personal lives :)”

  • Breakout Games for Extending STEM, Art, and Economics

    Funded Feb 8, 2022

Thank you so much for supporting our class with another year of Breakout EDU. Our students have been participating in Breakout EDU box games and digital games to get the hang of how the process works. I am able to use this platform with my in-person students as well as my virtual students! Next, we will take the Breakout Design Course and work to create games with academic content for our teachers in the building. Thank you so much for allowing my students this opportunity to partner and work with our building teachers! We appreciate you and all you do for kids!”

  • The Art and Economics of Fashion Design

    Funded Feb 6, 2022

What an amazing journey you have laid out for my students! Our Fashion Design class has officially started. Students are in the beginning stages of managing our class store by designing and creating resin and 3d printed products. Recently students have reflected on who they are as a brand and created their own logo to represent their individual products in the store. Students have recently began choosing their major products. They were given the option of researching and designing their own label to put on denim, canvas shoes, leather accessories such as shoes or a purse, a jacket, sweatshirt, etc. Because of you they have all the fabric, vinyl, and supplies they need to not only make products for the store, but something they can take home and be proud of! Thank you so much!”

  • A STEM/STEAM Economics Classroom: Supporting Arts and Making

    Funded Jan 31, 2022

Thank you so much for supporting our STEM Economics Classroom. We have been able to do so much with the supplies you have helped us with and many of the supplies will continue to be used next year as well! I was able to purchase Fashion Merchandising curriculum with the TPT gift card which gives my students engaging activities but more importantly ties those activities to art and economics state standards. My class works a lot with resin; however, the resin you purchased is special because we found a nontoxic brand. We still continue to wear masks, gloves, and aprons- but as a teacher, I want to thank you very much for helping provide this safe material for my student projects. The pegboard has been one of the most transformational items we have received all year! Their storefront actually looks like a storefront now as their items hang on the wall/pegboard and consumers stop by the room to "shop". Our STEM students have been using the cardboard scissors constantly and it makes their lives so much easier as now they can build and design while having the appropriate tools to construct with cardboard. Our students continue to learn about utilizing our class Cricut. The supplies you donated will be used well into next year for the store and their Fashion Merchandising class. Thank you so much for all of your support!”

  • TPT Curriculum for STEM Classes, Economics & ACT PrepTesting

    Funded Feb 4, 2022

Thank you so much for helping me establish research-based curriculums that closely follow my state and GT standards. Two of the main focal areas that you contributed to are classes called "ACT test prep" and "Mars Patel". My school is a majority of EL, bilingual students and our area of weakness on the ACT is the grammar section. Many of my students have only been speaking English since they entered the school system or moved here just a few years ago. Because they are tested in English, it is important to have quality lessons that help them fast track the ELA grammar rules. I was able to conduct an ACT "Boot Camp" that lasted over several weeks. We took pretest and posttest scores on a sample preACT test and each student's average score rose 8 ACT points. That was a huge gain! In a different class we began listening to the teen suspense podcast "Mars Patel". Your generous donation helped me to establish a pre-written curriculum that strongly ties the podcast into reading and English standards while it also provides STEM activities to go along with the storyline. We are currently in the middle of this unit and the kids are loving it! Thank you so much for your continued support and desire to help my students receive a quality education!”
