Flexible and Fun
Funded Dec 9, 2023I cannot thank you enough for helping to support my classroom and my students who have special needs. Middle School can be very hard for students, especially middle school students who are trying to figure out where they fit in. My classroom has a comfy area that the students are allowed to work in, and your donation helped to buy bean bag chairs for that. My students feel more comfortable competing work in that area, especially when it is difficult.
These bean bag chairs honestly push my kids to work harder because they want the chance to sit in it. In order for students to have the opportunity to sit in the bean bag, their classroom behavior needs to be acceptable and they need to show that they get their work done. This gives them incentive to sit there. However, it also is a good spot for my students who are struggling emotionally that day to sit and relax. I have had one curl up and sleep on it because she was not able to sleep at home. These are the impacts that change a student's outlook on school and allow school to be a safe space that they want to come back to. Your generosity had a huge impact on my students and I am so grateful to you. My class and I wish you a wonderful year!”

Funded Jun 15, 2023My students and I are so grateful to have people like you in the world. Your generosity has allowed my students to not have to worry about not having headphones in the classroom. My students have reading and math programs that require them to listen and speak into the computer. Those students whose parents cannot afford to provide headphones have one less thing to worry about because of you.
With each student having headphones, my students are able to access their learning goals and increase their knowledge. Through the use of videos, read alouds, and using text to speech, we can help accommodate the diverse needs of our students. These headphones give my students with special needs the bridge they need to meet their learning goals through their accommodations. Thank you again for all you have done to support my students.”

Funded Dec 11, 2022When you have students who struggle to learn, you need to use as many ways as possible to get them to understand the content. One of the best ways to help students to understand is to use visuals. There are many ways to do this, but one of the best ways is to project worksheets, directions, maps, charts and graphs up on the board. A document camera allows me to do that and allows me to use color coding to help them differentiate information.
When the box came for the new document camera, my class felt like it was Christmas. We love the clarity of the picture, especially when I zoom in. This has also increased engagement in bringing up work to present under the document camera. When doing presentations, students are happy to present and can present from the back of the room to make them more comfortable while still showing off their posters and projects. My students and I are so excited and grateful for our document camera and for your donation to increase our learning. Thank you so much!”

Funded Dec 1, 2022Thank you so much for your generous donation of the rolling cart to help utilize my document camera in the room. This cart has been great by allowing my students to have more room to come up and use the camera to present their work. When my students first saw the new cart, they were very excited and wanted to come up to use the cart as well as the document camera. By putting my document camera on the cart, I am able to teach from the middle of the room, allowing me to have better proximity to my students. This also helps support my students who struggle with attention deficit disorder to keep them on track by being closer to them.
I am also utilizing my cart for students to give presentations and allow them to move around the room and have a place to keep the papers they will need. Students are able to come up and put their writing under the camera and explain what they did. When doing this, they are no longer forced to be in the front of the room, and feel more comfortable with their presentation. This is helping to create some excitement around showing off their work, which is not easy to do with my students, so thank you.”

A Warm Welcome Increases Engagement
Funded Aug 9, 2022Thank you so much for helping to make my classroom more like a home. My students love the decorations this year, including my students from last year who have stopped by. Because of you, I am able to help my students feel safe and secure while they are in school, which goes a long way when trying to help them succeed academically. My students have said that they enjoy coming to my class the most because it feels cozy. Some of these students have had attendance issues in the past and never wanted to come to school, but now they look forward to it. I hope you have an amazing holiday and know that you have helped make a difference in my life and my students' lives as well.”

Funded Aug 9, 2022A huge thank you from myself and my students for your generosity. This year has been more of a struggle than anticipated with students struggling to regulate their emotions in class. There have been many occasions where my students have needed breaks and have asked to utilize the items you helped to purchase. My students rush to finish their work to be able to play with the magnetic tiles as well as the geometric shape light activity pad. You have given my students something to work for as well as another way to work together in a non-academic way that improves their social skills. I cannot thank you enough for your contribution to my students social and emotional needs. Have a great holiday!”

Funded May 13, 2022Thank you so much for your generosity. My students were so excited when I opened up the new head phones for them to use. Our reading program asks students to listen and speak into the microphone for reading passages aloud or practicing phonetic sound skills. My students are in a Title 1 school, which means over 40% of our population are on free or reduced lunch and cannot afford to buy their own. My students have been sharing the few pairs I do have and they have been breaking because they are older, which means fewer students at a time can work on the program.
With your donation of new headsets, all of my students can work on their reading program at the same time. This also allows my students to use the text to speech modification when working on writing, a modification that many of my students use in class because they struggle with writing. Lastly, my students need to have reading passages and work read aloud to them. So these allow all my students to work independently by not needing an adult in the class to read their work aloud on the computer and gives them more confidence. Through your generous donation, you have helped impact my student's lives. Have an amazing summer!”

Funded May 2, 2022Your generosity has meant so much to my students and me. My students absolutely love the new chairs and the lap tables to do their work. When we were unboxing the items the day they came in, the students were so excited to be the first to try out the chairs and tables. One group specifically asked to work in the hall so they could use them. My students love to move around the room when working, and this gives them an even better way of working with a place to put their materials and computers. When my students have worked in the hallway with these items, they have received many comments about how cool the set up is and how other students want them.
Now my students have enough flexible seating to all work in groups or independently and feel comfortable throughout the room and in the hallway if they choose. You have helped to make my classroom a place my students look forward to coming to, which is difficult in middle school. My students and I are so lucky to have donors like you to help make their school experience even better. Thank you!”

Fun and Flexible Seating
Funded Sep 17, 2021Thank you so much for helping my classroom become more inviting. My students have loved the flexible seating you have provided for their independent reading station as well as their computer station. When students are told they they will be able to work in the independent reading center, they get excited. I have had my students request to spend extra time reading because it allows them to relax.
Students bring the flexible seating all around the room when working on different activities and they look forward to reading independently. Our reading program has an online component; students will work in the hallway on the computer center at different points. They have started to ask if they can be on the computer center so they can bring the grey chairs into the hallway. This has allowed my students to stay on task more and complete more work independently.
Lastly, the stools provided allow my students in small group to have movement when they work with me. Most students ask for the wobbly stools and will even ask to bring them to their desks if they are working independently. Especially after being home last year, students have struggled to work at a desk for an extended period. Your support has really helped my students work more independently and stay on task for longer periods of time. So thank you so much for all you have done to support my classroom and amazing students!”
