  • Talk of the Tribe

    Funded Apr 16, 2024

It's hard to put into words the impact this donation has made on my gifted education classroom. Since receiving the additional cameras we have been able to put together a bi-monthly school news show. Last year I used twenty of my 8th graders to film the production and successfully send out to staff, students, parents & our school social media platforms to view. The program highlighted students, staff, daily happenings of the school, sports, academics, and even the history of our school.

This year I look forward to beginning the year with the additional cameras donated so we are able to make our Talk of the Tribe production even more successful this year with my 8th graders creativity, communication skills, and their ambition for success.

The most gratifying part is not worrying about how to make "something work" for our school news is knowing individuals like you are giving to promote student learning. Your monetary donation has helped our vision come to life...here's to year #2 of Talk of the Tribe news.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hatterick

  • Safety is a Priority

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

I would like to thank each of you who have donated for "Safety is a Priority" especially with all the news coverage on gun violence in schools. In today's world much of the issues are on display for children to view at home on the TV or hear about from their peers. Students are more anxious than every before in schools. Giving students peace of mind with their safety while they are at school is my number one priority as their teacher.

Students should be able to attend school and feel safe and secure within their building. The extra presence of an additional lock placed at the bottom of my door as well as a magnet strip used for an extra precaution helps the students understand that I'm adding an extra sense of security to their classroom.

My students and I are so thankful for your generous donation. Thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hatterick

  • Leveling Readers for Growth

    Funded Oct 18, 2017

We are so thankful for your monetary contribution for funding our books in the classroom. I have students reading on a 1st-6th grade level. I also am required to teach fourth grade standards. It is difficult to find materials on the reading level the students need to accomplish the standards in reading. Students are able to be successful when they have the opportunity to read books that are interesting and on their reading level.

I've had the opportunity to use the books for students just to read for enjoyment. I've also used the books for specific strategies such as meta-cognition, making connections, inferring, using context clues to understand vocabulary, and character analysis.

In my classroom, I teach four separate reading blocks daily. Each block is around 60 minutes long. I teach guided reading within each block. This means I see all 78 students in small group daily. I use books and my new resources as a jumping point at times to introduce a new strategy to my groups.

We feel so fortunate to have the support of individuals within our community as well as individuals we've never met. Thank you for encouraging my students to read and enjoy a good new book!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hatterick
