Math Fluency Madness
Funded Aug 20, 2019My students absolutely love the games! They are excited about doing the math and request to play them all the time. When given the choice between recess and continuing to play the games, they often choose the games.
This is the kind of love for learning I was hoping to achieve. Each game provides support for every level learner in my class. They are the perfect mix of engaging, and purposeful that the impact on my class has been so exciting to watch!
Thank you for giving my students the gift of fun learning and math fluency!”

A Classroom Ready to Learn
Funded Dec 22, 2018First of all, I can't thank you enough for helping my students. I have a dream for my students that is way bigger than what I, myself, can provide. They deserve all the tools they need to succeed, and I feel that if I can't provide that to them, I am not fully doing my job as a teacher. The resources that were purchased are just the beginning of a vision I have for our most successful classroom. Having the ability to move around the room, separate themselves from other students, work in more comfortable work spaces allows them to be much more focused on their work and comfortable in the classroom. It creates a home, where they feel empowered to learn.
The tabletop workspaces are particularly helpful. This is a much-needed resource in our room for students who prefer to stand. We have used them during long assessments for a couple students who need to move their bodies to concentrate. I actually would love to use one myself! The floor seats are just cool. They are very desirable in our classroom, and we have used them for multiple moments in our room so far. They allow our wiggliest students to sit with the rest of the class, but rock back and forth while listening. The floor desks were an item that we requested in our first project. We didn't realize how amazing they were going to be, so we had to get more! Students will sit in a circle and work in their workbooks together with them. They can also move them anywhere in the room because they are so lightweight.
When the materials first arrived in our classroom, my students were so excited. Having one project completed before, they were more familiar with what was going on. They were curious at first and wondered what are these items for. When I explained what they were, they were very excited to use them right away, and experiment with using them to do different things in the room.
This project was the second part of a total classroom makeover. Eventually, I hope to work towards a truly flexible classroom. We are moving away from the traditional desks, and I would like to provide my students with more opportunities to decide where they would learn best. I plan on adding some more standing options, special comfortable options, and different size/height tables for collaborative learning spaces. I dream of a space that is a home for learning: comfortable, calm, and productive.”

Constructive Comfortable Classroom
Funded Sep 7, 2018First of all, I can't thank you enough for helping my students. I often find it hard to provide them all the things they need and deserve all by myself. They are a very active bunch and they work best when they have multiple options of where to sit in the room. The resources that were purchased are perfect for our classroom. Having the ability to move around the room, separate themselves from other students, work in more comfortable work spaces allows them to be much more focused on their work and comfortable in the classroom.
I have two students in particular that never sit in their seats at their desks. Working at their desk is just so uncomfortable for them. They also struggle with focusing while sitting in close proximity to other students. The stools, cushions, small worktable, and the floor desks give them so many more opportunities to find a place to focus and do their best work. These students prefer sitting on the floor, which allows them to move around more than they would be able to in their seats.
When the materials first arrived in our classroom, my students were confused. The delivery alone was a new experience for them. When I showed them the items, they were more confused because they couldn't wrap their heads around the fact that these items were for them! Once they figured out that these items would be a permanent addition to our classroom, they were very excited and couldn't wait to try them out. They made plans on how to best use them, discuss the benefits of having them in our classroom, and they developed a respect for the items. They knew they were special, so they took good care of them. Even students from last year would come to visit my classroom, and notice the "cool" new additions to our learning environment.
This project was just the beginning of a total classroom makeover. Eventually, I hope to work towards a truly flexible classroom. We are moving away from the traditional desks, and I would like to provide my students with more opportunities to decide where they would learn best. I plan on adding some standing options, more comfortable options, and different size/height tables for collaborative learning spaces.
