The addition of a new class set of soccer balls will help replace old, torn, flat ones. My students most requested game in the soccer unit is Line Soccer! It's a great way to get all the kids involved with no students left on the benches. With so many requests to learn and play soccer, we are in need of new equipment! When we began our soccer unit this fall, my students demonstrated their flexibility by making use of old volleyballs in place of soccer balls. They dribbled, kicked, and scored points with no complaints! Currently, our soccer ball supply consists of about 8 foam balls with the color chipped off. Pieces of foam have been picked away and our several other regular soccer balls are flat and well-used. A new set of soccer balls will be used to teach during our soccer unit in the fall and when we re-visit the skills of dribbling, passing, and shooting in the spring. Kids will enjoy being able to use their own ball which will provide more opportunities for practice per student. With a variety of colors, we will be able to play new versions of soccer with more than one ball at a time.
