Engaging Young Minds in Math and Science
Funded Nov 1, 2017Thank you so much for your generous donation to our classroom. The students and I were excited to use the new materials for our math and science projects this year! Some students even exclaimed that it felt like Christmas when the boxes arrived and we were able to unbox them!
Our "When I Grow Up" Income/Budgeting Projects, "Renewable and Non-Renewable Energy Sources" Posters, and "Top 10" Data Projects were made possible with the large Post-It Easel Pads. Students were able to clearly and proudly display their research and information on these large sheets for all to see.
Having clipboards, yardsticks, tape dispensers, timers, and graph paper easily accessible in the classroom made it so much easier for me as a teacher to plan learning activities without worrying about lacking materials for students to use. For some students, this was their first time having timers and yardsticks available, and they were eager to use them to create and conduct their own experimental designs.
Now that the school year is over, I am eager to begin planning engaging learning activities for my next group of sixth graders. So much of this would not be possible without the generosity of donors like you. Thank you for supporting my classroom!”
With gratitude,

Technology for the 21st Century Classroom
Funded Aug 24, 2014Thank you so much for your generous contributions and providing our classroom with a much-needed projector. The students were thrilled to come in to class and see the projector set up and ready for use. We have been enjoying the projector every day and can not imagine a day going by without it!
The projector has helped make my lessons more engaging. I can now show PowerPoint slides, animations, video clips, and internet articles that are related to my lessons about earthquakes, plate tectonics, and other Earth Science topics. I feel an incredible sense of freedom to explore different ways of presenting material. The students show a higher level of engagement in class with the varied and interesting media used to present information.
The students are also using the projector to present their own work while teaching each other. They love coming up to the front of the room to "be the teacher" during Math. Not only do the students enjoy seeing each other's work, but also the quality of written work has improved because students know they may be coming up to present.
Thank you again for supporting our class and helping us get off to a great start this school year!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Han
