• Raising Our Bar

  Raising Our Bar is the first project I've submitted for this class of first and second graders. Our students have various disabilities, which makes it difficult for them to sometimes concentrate while leaning certain materials. The students were so excited to open up boxes and they felt very special knowing that someone thought enough of them to give them gifts that would help their education.

  We now have the visual timers across the room. We have the magnetic writing page that we get to use daily. The raised lined paper assist students with multi-sensory issues and helps them write on the lines. As a teacher, I appreciated the laminating pouches because it means that I won't have to waste time doing things over and over again and now I'm able to save them. Also, can I say that the electric Cran sharpener is a game changer it makes the crayons look exactly like the ones that come out of the box and the kids are so excited to even sharpen crayons. That's a new classroom job.

  There are so many people who say they want the best for our students. There's so many people who say they will support projects, but I want to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts because not only did you say you were going to help us you did it.”

• Can You See Me?

  We thank all of those who were able to support our "Can you see me" project. Our children have progressed with their learning through your generous donations.

  The vests have enabled some of our children to be able to zip, button and tie with ease. The vests have also encouraged other children to continue to master the art of zipping, buttoning, and snapping articles of clothing.

  The mirrors have aided in our children to be able to recognize different emotions. They have enjoyed playing games and singing songs, matching the emotion of the mirror to the tunes of the song.”

• Say Cheese!

  Funded May 13, 2019

  The "say cheese project has impacted our children tremendously. There is an overwhelming list of educational apps our school recommends and approves that have enhanced our children's knowledge a great deal this year.

  Some of our children who were not interested in technology now love to experiment with the camera. Through their play they have learned how to take and crop pictures of themselves and their classmates. Some have animated their pictures among other interesting artistic creations.”

• Staying Clean, Healthy and Well

  Funded Mar 1, 2019

  Thank you very much for your generous donations. Our children are so very active and we needed the Powerfresh Deluxe Steam Mop and Dirt Devil Bagless Upright Vacuum to keep our classroom environment as clean as possible. The Lysol Disinfecting Wipes and Lysol Disinfecting Cleaner has assisted the staff and keeping the germs at bay. Because of your giving our students have had a minimum amount of colds and sniffles. Our students have so many obstacles to overcome, keeping them in the best possible health is important. They cannot afford to miss any time on learning. The students are very talented so our next project will help provide them with a classroom IPAD and IPencil to help them continue to develop their creative minds.

• Lights and Action!

  Funded Jan 20, 2019

  Thank you very much for your generous donations. Our children come to school excited to use the light table accessories that you helped to fund. Each child engages with the light table and the different alphabetic letters, numbers, pattern blocks and color chips. The kinetic sensory sand is always a positive center for the students and thanks to your generosity we have an ample supply. They are growing so much and can request for the objects that they will work for via picture symbols.

  You have given us the opportunity to enlighten and enrich their daily routines here at Elias Brooking's. We appreciate each one of you. The Trailblazers as we like to call them are loving their gifts.

  Organization and cleanliness skills are important to learn. Our next project will supply the classroom with the tools necessary to help keep the room clean and the children healthy. Once again, we want to thank you for contributing to our classroom success.

• I Want a Piano!

  Thank you very much for your generous donations. Our children come to school daily eager to play the instruments you have provided. Their language has increased tremendously due to the staff prompting with pictures requiring verbal communication. Each child has gravitated towards a specific instrument.

  We appreciate the milestones these students have overcome, due to the presence of the musical instruments being readily available within the classroom environment. The excitement was felt as soon as the delivery was made. This has even encouraged the music teacher to acquire a portable keyboard for the students to access during music.

  Dramatic play is needed at this stage of development in order for our students to gain knowledge in life skills applications. We have recently received a play kitchen set for the classroom. We now need accessories to allow the children's imagination to grow.”
