Field Day - Getting Active!
Funded Jan 29, 2014I can not thank you enough for the equipment you purchased for our Field Day we will host in June! As soon as we received the equipment I got right to work and planned lessons around the new parachute, hop sacks & scoop and toss equipment. The students were all thrilled when they got to use it!
I wish you could see the excitement that the new equipment brought to their eyes! We even incorporated the parachute into a scooter obstacle course challenge and it helped enclose the mat maze so the students felt like they were venturing through a cave. They loved it! The best part was that it was the students own creativity that came to life and they designed the obstacle course themselves!
Without donors like you this wouldn't have been possible!”

Funded Jan 22, 2014Thank you so much for helping support our schools Physical Education program. The scooters that your generous donation helped purchase has been utilized by all of the students at our school. Student grade levels from kindergarten through the eighth grade have benefited from this project. Not only have we been able to use the scooters for scooter hockey but for scooter relays, a scavenger hunt and scooter basketball (which was a huge hit with my upper grade students).
Prior to students using the scooters I always make sure the students know how we received the equipment. My students all know about Donors Choose and perhaps will one day be able to pay forward what they benefited from because of generous donors such as yourselves.
Thank you again for helping provide equipment for my students!”

Funded Nov 17, 2013I would like to tell you how grateful we are for you generous donations! My students receive limited resources for Health so your donation allowed for us to receive new health board games, a class bingo set (which was a total hit with the students), nutrition bean bags, scissors and construction paper! All the students were excited to see the new health resources arrive!
The lower grades have enjoyed playing our health and nutrition bingo! It was a great follow up lesson after we used the nutrition beanbags in our Physical Education classes. It is fun incorporating the new materials into the lessons.
Thank you so much for helping make a difference in a child's life!”

Funded Nov 19, 2013I would like to express the gratitude I have that you all helped make it possible for my students to be able and experience something new! The students were very excited when they heard that our scooter project got funded but to see their faces in gym class when they got to use the new equipment was priceless! Classes that haven't had an opportunity to use the new equipment are looking forward to getting on the new scooters for the first time.
So far, the little kids have been learning how to ride on the scooters safely. We have incorporated the scooters into lessons on nutrition relay races, teamwork and good sportsmanship. The older students got to play soft scooter hockey which was a huge success. They can't wait until their next gym day so that we can continue their game!
I am so thankful for all of your generosity!”

Funded Nov 5, 2013My students were absolutely thrilled when they heard the news that we received the iPad! It really sparked their interest in how technology could be integrated and utilized in our class activities and lessons. Fitness testing is now fun! Students can use the stopwatch feature to time one another in their shuttle run. This has helped make my students work more cooperatively and assist one another throughout the fitness testing process. Also, the iPad as enabled us to input student data in real time so students have access to see their test results immediately.
The iPad also allows us to easily access music so that it can motivate students to move regardless if it is warm up laps, jumping rope or freeze dance! Students can easily select the music or change it if necessary. I want all of my students to learn how to be life long independent learners and the iPad is helping to achieve that!
I am excited to utilize the iPad to teach yoga to my students with a great application called Daily Yoga. I plan on doing that activity with my students this upcoming quarter. I know they are going to love it!”

Funded Mar 22, 2013I would like to express how grateful I am for your generosity. The scoreboards that you donated have already been put to good use in my gym! Students immediately started using them for use during our basketball unit and to keep score of their table tennis games. The scoreboards will get plenty of use throughout the year during our activities such as: floor hockey, bowling, flag football, soccer and ultimate frisbee.
Our school, like most of the educational system, has been dealing with budget cuts. With your help, my students now have scoreboards that are not only practical but essential in our everyday activities.
The best part is that ALL the students at our school benefit from your donation because instruct each and every one of them!”

Mrs. Hagan
