I teach a class of 26 eager, energetic and curious 4 and 5 year olds in a quiet country setting. Many of my students are English Language Learners and come from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds. They work so hard meeting the rigorous kindergarten standards in California. The importance of play is often overlooked and I am hoping that with your help I will be able to bring that fun back into my classroom. This is my third year on an exciting new journey teaching our youngest kindergarten students in a Transitional Kindergarten Class. This TK class focuses not only on academics but will incorporate developmentally appropriate play.
