  • Non-Fiction and Fiction Magazines

    Funded Sep 29, 2022

Thank you so much for giving my students the opportunity to read nonfiction magazines both digitally and in print. These magazine brought current events to their finger tips. Story Works magazine were amazing because it always had a poem, nonfiction piece, a story, a play and other interesting writing. These magazines were used in class, for homework, and small groups. Without your help my students would not be able to afford these two magazines. Which means their lives would not be as impacted as they were this year due to your generosity.”

  • Nonfiction/ Fiction Magazines

    Funded Oct 22, 2021

Thank you for non-fiction magazine which we use for pleasure reading, homework assignments, finding topics for opinion writing and for the study of non-fiction reading.

We use these magazines during our non-fiction reading study. They help to understand text features and how to synthesis our reading. These magazines are a source of graphs, diagrams, tables, charts, etc. The magazine helped the students acquire background knowledge that will again be of great help to them as they move move on to other grades. But most importantly it has helped them to stay current to what's happening in the world today.

All the students enjoyed the magazines!”

  • Library Books

    Funded Aug 12, 2021

Thank you for donating towards our library books. The books are used for independent reading, to take home and read, read aloud, and book clubs.

These books have introduced my students to worlds they have never set foot in. These books have diverse stories that reflect my students' backgrounds and cultures. I have many ELL students and these books reflect their traditions and cultures. Which in turns helps my other students understand what it is like for people who don't share their culture, language, race, religion, skin color and helps them to realize that these unique pieces of us makes us a greater classroom and world!”

  • Full Remote Learning Reading Binge!

    Funded Dec 21, 2020

It truly has been a challenging and incredible year. My class and I were full remote. We were limited to two sources of websites for books. I wanted more for my students. The magazine StoryWorks opened up creative stories that were fiction and nonfiction. Stories that had relatable characters, stories that showed character change, and character relationships.

My class every morning after the reading lesson they would have independent reading. They would have the choice of going on the book website or StoryWorks. The students would choose StoryWorks. The stories aligned very well with the reading skill the students had to use.

We are great-full for your generosity and for thinking of us.”

    Funded Dec 27, 2019

On this cold New York day it's great to receive some wonderful news that warms our hearts! Thank you so much for the opportunity of privacy. These partitions will help to focus our students especially those with attention difficulties. I'm sure this will help improve their focus and their quality of work.”

    Funded Dec 4, 2019

Thank you for the amazing opportunity to learn about nonfiction and current events. My students couldn't afford the subscription, but now they will able to build their background knowledge and open their world to new adventures. These magazines will hopefully inspire them to want to read more and research more!”

  • Tablets Are a Whole New Way To Educate!

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

The class was so excited when we received the tablets and headphones. This meant 4 more children had access to technology during center time. The students used the tablets to play sight word games for my higher groups and for my lower groups they played games for letter and sound recognition plus they used it to have books read Ondine to them. I also used it when assessing them online. Our school has a program where the students have to get online and answer questions after a book is read to them. Before the tablets it would take me over a week to do this with just one book with all the students but with the tablets in two days ( easier since they didn't have to use a mouse) we were done. For me this was magical because it saved us time and made it so much simpler for them which allowed them to feel successful. Thank you so much for making them feel that!”

My school is a title I. My 4th grade ICT class has 28 students. My vision for my classroom is to transform my room into a function center driven place. A place where students can independently find materials that will enhance their learning level. I'm looking to develop all areas such as meeting area, reading, math, listening, library, technology, and overall classroom look. The centers need materials, manipulatives and games that will adhere to all the children's level (which I currently don't have). The classroom also needs flexible seating. The library needs more leveled books and books that I can use to teach my guided reading lessons. My reading center needs activities that reinforce sight words, phonics, alphabet recognition, and sentence building. For technology use I currently have two computers in my classroom. I would like to add tablets and laptops to the mix. I HOPE TO MAKE THIS A REALITY WITH YOUR HELP!
