  • Focus Forward: Disconnect to Connect

    Funded Sep 11, 2023

    Dear Donors,

Thanks to your collective generosity, we were able to acquire a much-needed cell phone storage unit for my high school classroom. This storage unit will play a crucial role in fostering a focused and conducive learning environment, allowing both teachers and students to make the most out of their time in the classroom.

Your belief in the importance of education and your willingness to invest in the tools that enhance the learning experience have not gone unnoticed. The cell phone storage unit will serve as a practical solution to the challenges posed by the increasing use of mobile devices in the classroom. With this unit in place, we can encourage responsible use of technology while minimizing distractions and ensuring that our students stay engaged in their studies.

The positive impact of your contribution extends beyond the mere acquisition of a storage unit; it reaches into the heart of our school community. Your commitment to supporting education demonstrates a shared vision for the future and a belief in the potential of our students. By providing them with the tools they need to succeed, you are actively contributing to the growth and development of the next generation.

We are especially grateful for your understanding of the evolving nature of education and your willingness to adapt to the changing needs of our students. Your support goes beyond the tangible benefits of the storage unit; it sends a powerful message to our students that their education matters and that there are individuals like you who believe in their potential.

In the coming weeks, as we implement the cell phone storage unit into the classroom, we will be sure to share updates and photos of the positive changes it brings. We want you to witness firsthand the impact of your generosity and the smiles it brings to the faces of our students and educators.”

  • Watch These Boys Refuse to Lose!

    Funded Nov 30, 2022

Thank you for your donation for the team!! The boys are using the new catcher gear to improve their game, but the new gear does much more than protect the player as it makes the players feel pride!!

The players were so excited to see the new catcher's gear and the bucket of baseballs!! They took the plastic off the gear and smelled the new balls and marveled at the bright white color of the never used baseballs. They even practiced throwing the balls in the air!!

Your donation to this project valued and appreciated from the coaches to the players and of course from me!! Thank you!'”

  • Baseball Carts to Hit Dingers Out of the Park!

    Funded Oct 20, 2022

Thank you for your donation toward our baseball team!! With your donation, the team received 2 baseball carts to transport baseballs from the storage cart to the field, and make practice much more purposeful!!

Upon receiving these carts, the players were so excited!! They took the boxes out to the files and unboxed and built the carts in a coordinated group effort.

Having these materials makes the team more prepared because they have the basics that are necessary for a team sport. The team is so grateful for your donation!!”

  • Back to Basics for In-Person Learning!

    Funded Sep 21, 2022

Your donations helped my students to have many resources that allow them to work without the worry!! Students use vividly colored sticky notes to annotate their texts and to respond to short questions.

The resources for the Cricut cutting machine help to make beautiful bulletin boards and messages personalized to our classroom. This year each student wrote one word on a sticky note-that is their theme for this year-and they are displayed outside our classroom.

Students use the markers for many poster projects that add so much color and life!! And of course—the Kleenex tissues are so necessary!!”

  • Creativity and Critical Thinking in Collaborative Groups

    Funded Jun 17, 2021

From this project, students were able to laminate their sketches of a scene from the novella, Of Mice and Men, in which they were given a blank sheet of paper and a pencil. With their text, they had to draw the room based on the evidence in the book and could not use any technology. I laminated some of the examples so I could use them in the future.

In addition, students like to use the sticky note posters in collaborative groups. These posters are awesome because they can be used over several days and still be sticky!! Students get to write, draw, plot their information and share it with the class. These sticky notes are great for group work as well as making anchor charts.

Finally, I have a student area at the entrance to the classroom where students are welcomed with supplies and motivational notes. I used the easel to post different quotes to inspire and motivate students to think positively!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Garcia

  • Warm Welcome Back to In-Person School!

    Funded May 27, 2021

My students are using the new resources to create collaborative projects in class. We recently read the short story "Lamb to the Slaughter" by Roald Dahl, and after reading students created a 5-sentence structured paragraph in which students collaboratively wrote a topic sentence and each student was responsible to write one body sentence.

The way I divided the responsibilities was assigning each student a color-coded dot sticker on their desk, which correlated to the sentence in which I asked them to write. I used the Cricut to cut out the sticker letters for the "Dot Destination" posters.

I am planning to have students use the Cricut to create a mask project for the novel, Lord of the Flies, after Thanksgiving break. They will be able to create images and/or letters for this project.”

  • Collaborative Group Project Learning for the Win!!

    Funded Dec 3, 2019

Thank you so much for your donation toward my classroom supplies! We were reading Lord of the Flies in my sophomore English class, so students used the markers in a team competition to create an island on the posters (using the scented markers and Post-it posters) using textual evidence from their reading of chapters 1-3. This class also had another competition for Lord of the Flies in which they created a mask like Jack, one of the main characters, wears in the text. Their assignment was to create a mask using symbols from the text.

My students were so excited to see the boxes of supplies as they were delivered to my room! My students helped me open the boxes of materials as soon as they arrived, and we quickly put them to use! Students love the vivid color, and of course the fun scents, of the makers.

We use the supplies often in class. The stools purchased from your donation serve as flexible seating in my classroom everyday to ensure student collaboration and inclusiveness.”

  • Proud Student Projects Here!

    Funded Jul 6, 2017

My students are using the new resources on a regular basis to enhance their learning environment by creating collaborative posters, creating documents, and presenting projects. For example, my students read Shakespeare's Macbeth and created posters using the Mr. Sketch markers. My students love using the colorful markers because they are vibrant and also because they smell so good! Often times I hear students comment on the smell of the Mr. Sketch markers and it is nostalgic for them. My students are getting more comfortable presenting in front of their peers and overcoming their fear of public speaking. The documents they create help them to feel more confident when speaking in front of others.”

My students are 9th and 10th grade students who are in a college prep ELA course. Most of my students' parents did not graduate high school. Many of my students are language learners and find little motivation inside the classroom. They are often more inclined to complete an activity when it is relevant to them so I strive to make connections between classroom activities (reading, assignment, content, etc.). My students are somewhat involved in extracurricular activities such as clubs and sports. My students are polite and respectful students who try to demonstrate an earnest effort. My school is 80% Hispanic, 12% Asian, 8% other such as Caucasian, Pacific Islander and African American. Our school is Title I and about 85% of our students receive free or reduced lunch. Our school facilities are very old and are currently in the process of modernization.
