  • Non-Fiction Guided Reading Books

    Funded Mar 2, 2020

Thank you so much for the donations. My students enjoyed the bright beautiful books. The math manipulatives are super helpful during math lessons. The non-fiction books are a hit during guided reading and literacy centers. Your donations to our class project really benefited my students in many ways. During these difficult times it means a lot that so many people thought enough to help others. Students come in all shapes and sizes and these supplies really helped me to meet each students individuals need. Once again thank you.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Gomberg

  • Math Activities

    Funded Jan 22, 2020

I can't thank you enough for the generous donations. I have taught for Philly for 19 years and have seen how much our students need. This project helped bring flexible seating to more students. I now have six wobble chairs that help more active students sit and focus on various tasks throughout the day. The number grids help students learn number sense. The children love to use them. We are now counting by tens. The grid help students see ten more and ten less. It also helps them see the pattern when counting by tens at any number. The dinosaur counters are a fun manipulative for students to use. Thank you again for thinking of us!”

    With gratitude,

  • Rug and Chairs

    Funded Feb 2, 2017

I can't tell you enough how thankful my students and I are for your generation donations. A classroom environment is extremely important. Our new rug is so bright, clean and inviting that the students love learning on it. It also helps me with instruction. I am able to quickly group my students based on the color square they are sitting on. This reduces lost instructional time. The rug is large enough that all 28 of my students have enough space to sit comfortably during story time and direct instruction. The wobble chairs are also amazing. I use them for individual students with a variety of learning difficulties. The chairs switch from student to student depending on the learning activity we are doing. The chairs allow students to wobble back and forth which helps them stay focused and alert. Thank you so much for giving to my classroom, you have touched my students lives and made our classroom a better environment for learning. Thank you for your investment in our children, who are are our future.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Gomberg

The rug is going to be a great addition to our classroom. I currently have a very old and dirty rug. The rug is used for many different activities. We gather each morning for a morning message. We gather during shared reading for a Socratic seminar. We also read daily at our leveled fluency baskets. The rug is also a space for the students to spread out and gather for workshop activities. I have a few students each year that struggle with sitting in their chair. The wobble chairs will be used to help these students focus while having the luxury of moving at the same time. A nice large colorful rug and moveable chairs will help my students feel connected and comfortable all at the same time. First graders are constantly transitioning from one activity to the next and spend a lot of time on their classroom rug. The rug I chose will help students have their own space to sit and listen during story time and direct instruction. It will also provide a space to gather and stretch out during workshop and math centers.
