Small Group Reading Tools Tailored to READERS!
Funded Feb 3, 2023Thank you for your generous donation to our classroom. My students really enjoy reading the different literacy books and packets that you provided. Our Cam Jansen book has really been a great feature in our mystery series focus. I was not only able to replace the very worn and wellloved books but also I was able to find a great literacy book circle packet for my students to help guide their learning during independent reading time.
I was very excited to receive the gift card for Teachers Pay Teachers so that I could purchase additional resources to help some of my struggling learners. I purchased and have started to use a this amazing resource that pairs the phonics word study feature for the week with our work in small group reading. I have students practicing reading different words, sentences, and short passages that align with the feature of the week. For example, one of my groups have been focusing on vowel consonant e words and now I have the materials to reinforce and give repeated practice with the students that are having more difficulty mastering this concept.
Another resource I was able to purchase with the Teachers Pay Teachers gift card and have truly enjoyed and know has improved the focused explicit instruction for my readers in third grade would be the paired text passages that I found. These passages have really helped my students look back in the passages to find text evidence to support their thinking about the reading.
Thank you for impacting my students this year but also thank you for help my learners grow in their reading journey. I am grateful and happy for your support on this project but also for the wonderful teaching materials you have provided supporting this project.”

Books Without Tape or Missing Pages
Funded Nov 30, 2022Wow! You are a true blessing to my third graders! These amazing books have impacted my readers. I have really enjoyed watching my students engaged with the different chapter books as well as reading packets that my team has developed to focus on comprehension growth.
The great thing about the different books that this project provided for my classroom is that many of the books I had before were taped and well loved through years of usage and learning. One of the students said wow these books are in great shape and their approach to reading and opening up the "new" books seemed to be in a state of awe. So first they were shocked by the new factor but once they started to read and learn the context of the storyline they were hooked.
I firmly believe that as a reading teacher, I need to teach my struggling learners to find a love of reading even if it is read aloud to them. So one of my goals is to read a few of these books aloud throughout the school year so that students are introduced to the storyline but also I have the ability now to have groups read the books and learn about a new series. Research has shown that people that identify themselves as a reader often get hooked into reading with a series and it is great to see student eager to read other books from a series that we have started in reading groups.”

Funded Jan 14, 2022Thank you so much for providing these wonderful hands-on learning magna-tiles for my students to experiment with when building cars and ramps in our force and motion unit. It was interesting to see the different designs that the students created when building their cars. I enjoyed seeing the students learn that with the bigger wheels and heavier weight the cars went farther off the ramps. We discussed friction and how the matchbox cars we have seem to have more friction on the towel-covered ramp but the larger magna-tile wheels didn't seem to have the same impact from the towel. I look forward to seeing the students continue to use these materials for hands-on exploration and learning in small groups. Thank you for providing these materials to enrich the learning happening in our classroom.”

Funded Nov 19, 2021I want to thank you so much for your generous donation to our project. Each of these 3 titles has been wonderful to introduce different series books but also has been really helpful for guided reading materials. My students were very excited to learn about the Boxcar children and were able to read and have book discussions about the characters, and plot of the story.
The great thing is that I now am able to swap these titles with a different reading group and use them to instruct in a small group setting other students in these areas. I plan on having these resources for many more years during my guided reading instruction.
The Boxcar Children series I have been blessed to have the set in my classroom library but until this point, the students really had not been engaged in this series. Now that I have introduced this series those books have been in high demand. Thank you for sparking a love of reading in my classroom.”

Who Was... A Book Series That Teaches Kids Historical Leaders!
Funded May 7, 2021My sincere thanks for supporting this project that has provided the Who Was... Series for my classroom library and Biography unit. My students were very interested in these books when I added them to the classroom library.
My goal is to use these later in the school year with our Biography unit. In this unit each student chooses their own person to read and find out information and then they write a paragraph or make a poster reflecting the unique information they discovered. This series allows my resource tub of materials to grow and allows a variety of reading levels with the text available for use. Thank you does not seem like enough but I truly appreciate the impact you have made for my class full of students.”

Funded May 19, 2021Thank you for your generosity in donating to this project for my amazing second graders. They were extremely excited to have new books added this week to our classroom library.
These new books will add a level of engagement to my readers in a new way as many of my boys were very excited to see the Dogman Series and Diary of Wimpy kid books added. My goal as a teacher is to provide variety to my students for independent reading and enjoyment as well as provide quality materials and literature for reading instruction. These new materials provide both opportunities.
Another resource in this project was paired nonfiction text with fictional text. These short stories are working wonderfully in guided reading block for comparison of each genre. Thank you for impacting my class this year as well as for years in the future.”

Funded Jan 28, 2021My class was very excited to have these amazing nonfiction books. This set has so many great books. There is a wide variety of topics and information in this text set. Some of the books can be aligned with our different units such as Biographies, Animals, and even our Dinosaur unit. The fact that these Nonfiction books have different levels of reading from Learning to read all the way to very developed proficient readers.
These books have a spot in our classroom library where the students choose what level is appropriate with their reading ability as well as interests in the topics. The great thing is that these books have been very popular and have fostered enjoyment with my students. It has been really great seeing the students engaged with nonfiction text and having access in my classroom it has been very rewarding to see this project have so much success.
Thank you so much for giving my class these books literally in their hands to explore and learning more about the world through nonfiction text.”

Opening up New Adventures
Funded Dec 19, 2020I can honestly say that this project was funded at the right time! When our school went to remote learning the students took home their computers provided by the school as well as their earbuds and headphones. Unfortunately during the time many of the earbuds either were lost or broken. So we then came back to the classroom there were many students in my class that were going without these resources. I was very thankful that I could give each student that needed one a new set to use to continue doing their independent work here in the classroom and at home with their homework.
Our students are able to access online books at home with our Chromebooks this year since we are unable to send books home nightly. The earbuds are very useful so that students can hear the book and block out noise at home. Thank you for helping support our kids both here in school but also in their homes with remote learning and learning for homework time.
Thank you for providing new in classroom books for our classroom library too. Whenever we receive new books and I add them to our book library the students are excited to read and learn or go on another adventure with a book. This year it has been tricky with our quarantining of classroom library books for a few days so to add more in books the rotation with this project has been very beneficial. Thank you again for your generosity!”

Writers With Organizational Skills
Funded Dec 31, 2020Thank you for supporting my emerging writers both here at school and at home. When I passed out the new folders my students were excited to have clean fresh materials to keep their writing safe when not working. It was very helpful for me as a teacher to be able to look into a writing folder and see the different pieces that the students were working on at different points of the year. We have been keeping projects in one place and now the writing is organized to show the school year as a whole.
In the future, we will continue to use these folders for the students to keep their writing projects that are completed. The second set of folders will be used for current writing projects. This folder allows a place for them to store their paper and writing when not working on them during class but also in the case of going back to remote learning they will have a place to keep their writing and school work safe together near their computer.
I am very happy to have these materials for our students to use to help further their learning in a different type of school year. Thank you for impacting the future with your donation.”
