Funded Dec 2, 2020Your kind contribution has helped me buy engaging digital lessons for my students. Students learned how to use Google classroom, Google Docs, Google slides, and create video assignments. Thanks to the Teachers Pay Teachers' wonderful digital resources, my students had access to engaging digital files.
Some of the digital files included a fun cookbook slides presentation, a Halloween Math activity, and a Science Water Cycle activity. Thanks to you, I purchased an entire supplementary science curriculum to share with the entire fifth grade.
It's been difficult while they are learning at home. Using these resources have made it easier for my colleagues and I to teach and fun and easy to follow for the students.
Thank you donors. Using editable digital files helped students easily complete assignments and eliminated unneeded anxiety brought on by technical issues during this already stressful time.”

Funded Jun 23, 2020Now more than ever this printer ink is so important. With school budgets cut, and teachers' supply funds eliminated, It is inevitable that teachers will be going into their own pockets to purchase basic items.
Paper for copies has already been cut from the budget. I'm so grateful to have a printer and ink to still give my students some of the same resources I've given In the past.
My students will benefit so much from your generosity and kindness. It's the simplest things that bring the greatest comfort and pleasure.”

High Five Prize Box
Funded Jan 8, 2020Thank donors so very much for contributing to my project! I can't begin to tell you how very much excited the students were when we received the supplies. This positive reinforcement strategy is one that I have used for many years. The students do respond to it mostly, I believe, because it is random and given to whomever I catch doing the right thing such as acting kind, helping others, staying on task, showing attention and other positive behavior. I do not give high fives for academics and students cannot ask for one.
I have noticed, however, that over the years, the prizes that students respond to have gradually needed to be more enticing. For example, pencils, stickers, and bookmarks were not longer getting the best response. Therefore, I needed to upgrade and you helped me tremendously to be able to do that. The evidence is something I see everyday. For example, one student was having difficulty multiplying basic facts with fluency, so I recommended that she create flash cards and practice during the after-school program. At the moment I finished my statement, several other students immediately offered to help make the flash cards and work with the struggling student who by the way, had a big smile on her face. I was so impressed that of course, I gave them all high five stickers. Kindness is key!! It truly is rewarding to see the students look at me with a curious smile each time I reward them for acts of kindness. I hope it will encourage them to continue to do the right thing throughout their lives.”

Printing Pleasures
Funded Oct 4, 2019We are so very grateful for your donation. Our color printer is is a big hit! We recently completed personal narratives the students were so happy to use the printer in school and not have to worry about printing it out elsewhere. They are only ten years old and must do not have help at home. It truly would have been a hardship to go to the public library or to a friends house to print. Here is what they said:
Dear Donors,
We are really thankful for the printer you sent us. It has been super helpful during the small amount of time we have been using it. We the students really think that colors are more fun than just plain old black and white. With the printer we can print many things with color rather than going to the library. Thank you for the generous donation you sent to us. We really appreciate your kindness and you are very generous by donating things to people.
Sincerely,
Mrs.G. and class 501
You gotta love 'em”

Funded Jan 28, 2015I want to thank you once again for donating to my project. The students are thrilled that lesson plans are prepared in advance and ready to be displayed on the smart board. This leaves more time for group work and for me to circle the room and clarify any misconceptions.
I have used the laptop computer at varied times to plan lessons in advance at home, and in class, on Smart Tech program that I was able to download. This helps me to work on setting up the lesson that will appear on the smart board. Previously, I could only use the computer connected to the smart board in the class room. In addition, I have had time to find websites that add to traditional learning but connect to the concepts being taught. For example, I often utilize Brain pop, Math Antics, School tube, School House Rock, Learn Zillion, Flocabulary and other visual representations to supplement traditional material. I review all material before showing it to students. I can now do this wherever and whenever I have time.
This project has truly enhanced my students learning and my teaching practices. I am able to get more done in less time and the students are able to benefit from active learning throughout the day without enduring any down time that could lead to a multitude of problems. Thanks for helping me be a better teacher.”

Visual learners need new technology
Funded Oct 5, 2010I am honored that you have chosen my project to fund. The funding you have provided has enable my students, many of whom are English Language Learners as well as special education students, the ability to SEE concepts being taught more clearly. I have been able to demonstrate many concepts related to all subjects. For literacy I can clearly demonstrate setting, mood, theme, and genres. The students especially like the vocabulary game we play every week. They are able to see what the newly introduced word means with a picture, then we play a game in which they guess the word that best fits the sentence being displayed on the screen. For math, we are able to visualize many abstract concepts such as fractions, multiplication and division strategies. In social studies, students learn where exactly they are in the world by viewing it on virtual maps. Finally, for science they have been able to view concepts such as life cycles of plants and animals.
With all the current budget cuts to NYC public school and more planned for the upcoming year, my students would likely never have this vital resource. With so many English language learners and special education students in NYC public schools, being able to visualize concepts is of utmost importance. Thanks to donors like you, these students can thrive.
Thank you so much. My class is truly benefiting from this exciting and new way of learning. ”
