Masks and Snacks
Funded Dec 30, 2021Thank you for helping me protect my kids. These masks are amazing. They fit my students' faces well and the kids love them! They are fun designs, so the kids are excited to wear them... well, as excited as one can be to have to wear a mask. I feel that the kids are more protected with the KN95 masks, and with adjustable tabs on the straps. And the kids love that the mask does not hit their eyes, so they can keep them over their noses. These masks are perfect.
The snacks have been a fun alternative to the leftover breakfast items. My students love the pretzels and goldfish. The Pirate's Booty is one of their favorites. It's cheesy and easy to eat. And the fruit cups give the kids a balance to their grains and dairy. They love getting something "off the menu."
Thank you for giving my kids something more to look forward to at school. They are safe, fed, and smiling. Your generosity has made our room a happier place to be. Thank you.”

Funded Nov 30, 2021My students absolutely love putting together these puzzles. They are seeing themselves in the puzzles as ballerinas, chefs and astronauts. They have become so good at these puzzles, they are asking for more puzzles with more pieces to them. This is amazing! They are problem solving, matching shapes and pictures, and working together to put these puzzles together. They are loving it! I am, too.
Although we don't want any boo-boos, we have used the bandages a few times. The kids select the colored bandage to match their skin, or close to it. They are happy to see these options for bandages which enables them to see their skin color/bandage on their own hands.
And our books are fantastic! The kids are enjoying stories that relate to them and are about them. Whether it be about their hair, their skin color, or their desired career choice, these books are beautiful. They are enjoyable to read and listen to. My kids are truly becoming amazing children who are proud of who they are and what they look like. Thank you for providing us with these puzzles, books and bandages.”

Funded Dec 2, 2021Thank you, thank you so much! These new breakfast options have been amazing! I am so happy to provide my students with a delicious and healthy breakfast each day. I am now able to reduce the sugar that my kids are getting in the morning for breakfast by providing them Cheerios and granola bars as an alternative to concha (pastry) and muffins. My kids are so happy to see a beautiful "breakfast bar" with daily options that will fill their bellies and keep them energized all day. They love the Quaker and Nature Valley granola bars for a quick mid-day grab to eat, as well. They enjoy the fruit cups (versus the Craisins) for a "sweet" fruit option. And they still get their concha and muffins in the afternoon to get them through that last hour of the day.
This has been an amazing gift to me as a teacher, as well. My students are fed and settled in and ready to learn each morning. I am so very grateful to you for helping me provide these breakfast foods to my kids. Thank you.”

Funded Dec 16, 2021Thank you so much for helping my students and the students in all of our TK, Kindergarten AND First Grade classes! I had enough to share with the two first grade classes, as well. These lanyards have been amazing. The kids are being so responsible every day adding their lanyards to their masks every morning. They are able to remove their masks when they eat, and it is right there when they are finished eating.
Sometimes, when they are playing on the swings or slides, the masks slide off of their ears. Boom. The mask is right there at their chest hanging on their lanyards. The request for multiple masks has reduce dramatically! It is so wonderful. At our TK/K/1st grade level, we are helping the school save money on masks and helping the environment with less waste.
Thank you for helping us with these lanyards, especially during this crazy pandemic time. Your generosity goes beyond helping our students and school, it helps the environment, as well. Thank you.”

Funded Jan 15, 2022Wow! What a wonderful addition to our classroom! My kids are learning how to use watercolor paints and blend colors. They are using oil pastels and using a smear tactic to blend the rainbow colors. They have used the skin-tones to create amazing portraits of themselves and their friends. It is so exciting to hear them talk about their pictures, using descriptive words, and telling about their many friends in the class. Building that strong social bond is an added bonus to the success of this grant. Thank you for helping my students with their fine motor skills, their visual arts techniques, and helping them to build those friendships. We store our supplies in the wonderful cabinet. The students know that we can always find what we need in the cabinet or with our friends here on DonorsChoose. Thank you so much!”

Funded Nov 5, 2021Thank you for your generosity. My students love these Magna-Tiles. While they play, they are learning about magnets and structures. They are having the most fun with the strength of the magnets and how they can withstand the weight of other items when put together. My students have built houses, boxes, castles and mazes. They are truly enjoying the magnets and always want more time to build. They are learning how to create a strong base for a structure to hold and withstand weight. They are learning how negative and positive magnets attract each other. And, they are learning that there are forces that occur on earth but cannot always be seen. It is very exciting to watch them as they play and learn. Thank you for helping my students as they explore the world of science and magnets.”

Funded Sep 30, 2021Thank you for your kindness and generosity! My students have been so happy and excited to be able to utilize these comfy floor chairs when we read and work at the carpet. The floor can get hard on the bottom after a while. Having these cushy seats to rest our bums has been wonderful. When my students sit at the carpet to read, they are able to lean back and rest while reading their favorite books. They are not worried about falling over and they are not adjusting themselves to get comfortable, because they already are comfortable.
There is nothing like finding your own private space to read that is cozy and soft and warm. These seats are all that and more. I am so grateful to you for providing my students these wonderful chairs.
When we sit at the carpet to write, these lap desks provide the perfect height and stability for my students to write and copy words and sentences. Thank you for everything you have given.”

Funded Oct 7, 2021Thank you for helping my students get off to a great start this year with these wonderful writing books! They started with their first journals without lines. Then, they graduated to the 2-lined books. Next, they went to the multiple lined paper journals and a few of them have already started on their sight word journals. These books have made it so easy to help guide the children with the proper letter formations to help them when they will eventually learn cursive writing.
You have made teaching my students so much easier! These books have saved me so much time, which helps me with my energy to keep up with the kids! I am so appreciative to all of you and your donations to my class. My students are working hard to learn to write and read. These books have made it fun and perfect.
Thank you!”

Funded Sep 23, 2021Thank you for helping me to keep my students healthy during this crazy time in history. The Kleenex are placed all around the classroom in every center. The children are never far from a tissue. And when they are done, they can toss the tissue in the garbage can, easily putting their masks back up.
I am so happy to be able to clean our games and toys with the Lysol spray. With many hands touching the manipulatives, it is wonderful to have the Lysol spray to disinfect the materials. I wait until the children have gone home, tip the bins and spread out the pieces. I give them a first spray, wait 10 minutes and flip, then, I spray them again. They are disinfected and ready for the children to learn through play another day.
In addition, we are so grateful for the dry-erase markers and dry-erase board. The kids have a front row seat to the board to copy words and their markers are always ready for them. It is so nice to be able to write and erase and know that the pens have ink.
Thank you for helping my kids to write and to stay healthy.”

Funded Aug 12, 2021Thank you so much for helping my students learn through play. These math games are so much fun and the kids are learning while they play. They are engaged in the activity because of the fun colors, sturdy construction, and exciting elements. The hands-on approach truly engages children in learning. My kids are manipulating the game pieces and learning how to count, add and subtract. They are learning about time and numbers. They are improving their fine motor skills, also.
Thank you for helping me get these great math materials into the hands of my children to help them learn.”
