Books For Our New Language Arts Curriculum
Funded Dec 8, 2023Thank you so much for your generosity! It has been so wonderful to share these books and all of this information with my children. We read the curriculum, but when the children get to read the information themselves at a level that they are capable of, they are so happy! They are excited to teach their parents about what they have learned. And that helps them to retain the information they have learned.
So often, when we have private reading time, the children ask to read these books specifically! It is so thrilling as a teacher to know that I have sparked an interest in them. Thank you for helping me to do that! Your donation is what has made these children interested in learning more.
Thank you!”

Funded Oct 22, 2023Thank you so much for your generosity and kindness. With the printer ink and card stock paper, I have been able to print all of the new curriculum vocabulary and phrases with definitions to help my students understand the new words. Having visuals in color truly helps my children to see and visualize the real word and its meaning. I have not had to recreate the wheel because my previous Teachers Pay Teachers (TPT) gift cards have helped me so that I do not have to. A few other teachers have the same issues with the curriculum that I have had and they have found solutions to make learning easier for our children. By purchasing their manipulatives and printing them on this card stock with colored ink, I have saved time and helped my children to learn.
I have tried to print in black and white. Sometimes, the item is an unknown item to children, like a kettle or spinning top. Seeing it in color helps my children to recognize the object so that learning the new word becomes easier. Thank you.
The classroom supplies are wonderful. I am always in need of post-it notes. My children use them, as well. The erasers and pencil sharpeners have given my students control over their writing. The Mr. Clean erasers have helped us remove unwanted permanent ink and glue from our tables. I have used the Daily journals with my lower level students and they are helping us to catch up with skills. Thank you for your kindness and for choosing my class and me for your donation. You have made this year of transition a bit easier for us all.”

Building a Future With LEGOs
Funded Oct 13, 2023Thank you for this amazing gift! Lego sets and books in the classroom have made our room a fun place to learn. My children are using these Lego bricks to add, subtract, multiply, build, create, and work collaboratively. We use Lego bricks for math. The dots on the Lego pieces help us with adding multiple numbers. When the numbers are the same, 8+8+8, they are learning beginning multiplication skills. They have the most fun when they learn about cause and effect. They are constantly thinking. I can hear them talking to each other saying, "What would happen if...?" It's so exciting to have them doing something fun while they build their skills and relationships in the classroom.
My students are learning how to follow directions written from a book. They are looking at the pictures and comparing their Lego creation to the design in the books. They are learning comparison skills as well as testing their models. They make hypothesis about their creations and test their theories. Legos are an amazing way to learn science, math, and social skills. They build fine motor skills and create friendships.
Thank you for helping me build a beautiful community in my classroom with these Legos and books.”

Color Our World with Watercolor Paints, Paper, Carpet, and Yarn
Funded Aug 13, 2023Thank you for your generosity in supplying my classroom with yarn, watercolor paints, and a new carpet. We created little mini humans on cardboard and my students were able to use the yarn to add life and hair to replicas of themselves. We will use the other colors for "darning stockings" and lacing repurposed milk jugs for planters. The box of watercolor paints took a little while but finally made it to our classroom. The children's mouths dropped when they saw the 24 beautiful color options. They are loving using these paints to blend colors and create amazing works of art.
I delayed writing this impact note because we were waiting for one more item to arrive. The carpet was in transit. The tracking information said the carpet was only two hours away in a warehouse. I was patient, but finally had to accept that it might be lost. I notified DonorsChoose and they took care of everything. They got back the money for the carpet and I received a message to replace it with a new one. (Thank you DonorsChoose for taking care of that situation.) I have selected a new carpet similar to the other one. When it arrives, my students will have two locations, one at the front of the room and one at the back of the room by our other whiteboard to utilize the entire classroom for learning, Thank you for your kindness and for taking care of my children with me.”

Kleenex Tissue and Writing Supplies
Funded Sep 15, 2023Thank you for supplying our classroom with these needed supplies! The sneezing season has started and the Kleenex tissue are already being used at a steady pace. My children appreciate the soft Kleenex tissues all around the room, readily available to them whenever they need. I appreciate them getting that tissue when they need it. Thank you.
The Expo markers are fantastic for helping to teach my children how to write and spell. We use our whiteboards almost every day for practice in writing and story telling.
We use our post-it notes in our books to mark our interesting tidbits of information for later writing and sharing. We have used them as markers and as spelling notes. Sometimes, my children use them as book markers, too. We use them so often. Thank you for supplying our classroom with this much used supply.
Sharpies and flair pens have been perfect for our slick paper and card stock paper as well as for drawing and highlighting important work. It's amazing how much we use them. Thank you for your kindness and generosity in supplying my children with all of these materials.”

Breakfast Foods and Snacks
Funded Sep 28, 2023Thank you for helping to keep my children fed. Some mornings, families just can't get to school on time for our free breakfast. Having these cereals and breakfast bars available to my children has been amazing. The children are able to fill their bellies so that they can be ready to learn. When hunger strikes, we need to strike back. Your generous donation has made it possible for my children to have a good breakfast to start their day.
Our school days are long. Focusing for seven hours at the age of seven years old is difficult. Having a snack in the afternoon helps my children to continue to focus so that they can be receptive to learning. A bag of crackers or breadsticks can make the difference between a child who learns and one who sleeps or disrupts others. This food is truly a gift to my students. Thank you for helping me to feed my students.”

Basic School Supplies and a Little Glitter Fun
Funded Aug 13, 2023Thank you for this incredible gift! Having basic supplies in the classroom means I never have to worry about limiting my students' learning. They can access the materials they need when they need them. Their creativity and learning doesn't stop because of lack of materials.
My students love the dab-o-ink Daubers. They use them to paint and write. They tape words on our word wall. We tape our stories and art work on the windows for everyone to see. It may seem like a common occurrence, but my class seems to have the most decorated windows at school. Children are very proud of their work and by displaying it for everyone to see, they can feel good about themselves and continue to put their best effort into their work.
Our staplers help us to "continue our stories" on multiple pieces of paper and staple our math work together. Glitter adds that special touch to each of our works of art! The emperor may have his new clothes, but our "little humans" sparkle and shine in our classroom! I had a set of 18" gingerbread man cut-outs that I shared with the children to represent themselves with clothing (I have a lot of fabric to share with the children) and hair (I have lots of yarn, too.) The kids LOVED making them. Adding dabs-o-ink along with glitter belts and ribbon bows made them even more special. They remember the details of the story of the Emperor's New Clothes even more now. Fairy tales and Tall Tales are much more fun when we have the supplies to compliment our curriculum.
Thank you for all of your generosity! My students are making the most of each of these items.”

Funded May 9, 2023My students absolutely love Junie B. Jones! They are full of giggles when Junie B. does or says something so relatable to them. We read through 12 books last year. This year, we have already finished two of them! My students love when I change my voice and sound like Mrs. or Lucille or Grace or Meanie Jim. Thank you for supporting my class and providing us with these wonderful books. This year, I hope to get Junie B. into the first grade to read the rest of the books!
We also love the multicultural markers. They are magnificent. We have already created a few self-portraits and family portraits. Our forests also look amazing with the added depth of browns. Thank you.
The "Inspiring" books are fun to read to the children. My children can't believe other children as young as them are doing amazing things. I try to inspire them to be courageous and find their path. These stories are very helpful. Thank you for your generosity in providing our class with these many items.”

Funded Aug 9, 2023Thank you for bringing rhythm, rock, jazz, and soul into our classroom! Music feeds the soul in a way that works with our bodies and minds. Having these CD's to work with has made me appreciate music even more. I am trying to help my students appreciate music, hard work, dedication, and perseverance. I am going to be teaching my students about these musician and their history. I hope to inspire my children to be as dedicated to a purpose or cause as these musician have been.
Having music in the background of our classroom has helped to both calm and excite my children. Sometimes, they hear a tune that sounds familiar because it has been rewritten by a new artist. They are making connections. I hope to help them as they create a correlation with their own lives as they learn that they, too, can persevere.”

Funded Aug 23, 2023Thank you so much for these wonderful science books! My children are so excited to get started with all of our science activities. They have already colored rice, mixed water and oil, and learned a little bit about bugs.
As you can see in the smiles on their faces, they are having fun with the pictures and they are asking when we will start doing all of the activities. I am looking forward to teaching them about color, space, and soil. They are going to learn how the world works beneath our feet and in our skies. We will be creating a number of tasty snacks, too. Learning about outer space is going to be a blast. A few students have already started drawing pictures and asking questions. That is where is starts... with curiosity and asking questions. I can't wait to help them find the answers!
Thank you for bringing these amazing books into our classroom to help us learn and explore.”
