Every Day Is Earth Day
Funded May 5, 2024Thank you for your kind and generous donation. Having these garden gloves to help us with cleaning the school yard and with planting has been fantastic. It is funny to see that some of the children do not like to get there hands dirty with soil. Planting flowers was fun. Making sure they are safe from germs while picking up trash is very important to me. Even if they don't mind getting dirty, we do not want to risk anyone getting sick from others' trash. My children loved the different designs on the gloves, too. I received 36 pairs of gloves in this set and had only 25 students during the last month of school, so I shared the remaining pairs with the other second grade teacher. She had each child with one glove as they joined us in beautifying our school. These gloves are washable, so we will be able to use them continually over the next year. Thank you.
The children enjoyed potting their plants and decorating the containers for their mom's for Mother's Day. And as a final bonus, the children received the earth squeeze balls and earth pens to use to remind them that their hands protect our earth.
Thank you for helping me to give my students these wonderful and lasting experiences.”

Funded May 22, 2024Thank you so much! This brooder box was amazing! The children could easily reach the chicks in the box. We tried to hatch ducks this year, but oddly, two chicks hatched! We did not get any ducks this time around, but be happily raised our two little chicks.
They had lots of room. I am excited to try again for ducks next year and to have them roam in this roomie brooder box.
The baby oil and bottles were perfect for our "Ocean in Motion" teaching the children how oil and water do not mix, but food coloring, being water-based, does mix with the water. It was so much fun to watch the children as the tilted, shook, and watched the bubbles settle. These were great for Social and Emotional Learning (SEL), as well.
And the books were the perfect addition to teach the children about our potential ducks. Thank you for making this happen for my children this past year, and for my children years in the future.”

Funded May 22, 2024Thank you so much for helping me to feed my students! Some of my order for breakfast foods was backordered in May. I received a couple of boxes in May which my children thoroughly appreciated and enjoyed. The remaining part of this order was sent in the fall. So, this school year, I was able to start the year easing the minds of my students. They have breakfast foods each day to help them start the day with food in their tummies.
Breakfast bars are a quick, easily held, nutritious breakfast for my children, and they love them! These cereal tubs are perfect for quick munching or for adding a little milk and spooning the cereal into their mouths. My children will get grains and milk with low sugar so they can be ready to learn.
Thank you for your generosity and thoughtfulness. Thank you for helping to feed my students and ease their minds of worry. Your kindness is greatly appreciated.”

Laminating Machine and Pouches for Our Vocabulary Words and Pictures
Funded Feb 20, 2024Thank you for your generosity in donating to our classroom. It is amazing how quickly papers with words are crinkled and worn out with the many hands that touch them. Having our materials laminated is amazing! The vocabulary cards and pictures still look fantastic after a couple of months of use and I know I will be able to use these cards again and again for the next few years. That is how wonderful lamination is to a classroom.
My students have been utilizing the word wall and pocket charts pulling these laminated cards off the charts and wall and bringing them to their tables to write. They point to the words to refer to the new vocabulary as they use it in their every day classroom conversations. They touch, hold, and manipulate these cards a lot. I am so happy to say that they have withstood 27 different sets of hands over the course of a couple of months and I anticipate continued use of these same cards for many years. Thank you for this machine and the laminating sheets. I can see that my future has so much time saved in preparation because of your donation.
Thank you!”

Funded Mar 19, 2024Thank you for this amazing gift. Black and white paper are staples in an elementary classroom. Our supply closet is minimal. The black and white paper always seem to be out of stock. The multi-cultural paper is not a part of any standard order. I am so grateful to you all for your kindness and generosity. My students have been able to create personal works of art with this paper.
Having the color of your skin match your self-portrait and self-collage makes my students' work stand out and be heard! My children need to be proud of who they are. They need to learn that there are many different colors of skin, and many different people with differences. Some of those differences are visible and some are not. This multicultural paper helps my children to stand proud and be strong. My children are beginning to learn about colors, like taupe, caramel, cinnamon, and gingerbread! They are excited to hold the paper up to their skin and say, "Look! It matches me!" I love it!
We have made our pandas, penguins, and people look real because of your donation. We have created black and white quilts that stand out with dimension.
Thank you again for donating to my classroom and my children. We are truly grateful!”

Funded Feb 20, 2024Thank you for your generous donation to our classroom. My students created a wonderful quilt with a black and white background and fabric cut hearts in the center. They loved making their work stand out. A member of the district office staff loved the creation so much that he asked it he could display it in his office. We were honored. The quilt took a quick trip to the district office after our art night and I regret that I did not get a full picture of the quilt. I have a few pictures of a couple of the hearts. But, I have asked for one complete picture after he hangs it up.
In addition, we used the baggies to enhance our "Cycles of Nature" unit by planting lima beans in baggies with a wet paper towel and taping it to the window. For the first week, almost nothing "appeared" to happen. Then, like magic, it started to grow, like Jack and The Beanstalk. (Literature has a way of making things come alive, as does actually holding, touching, and manipulating objects; then, we watched it grow.) The children were amazed to see how much it could grow without ever having to water it again, and without soil. They learned about condensation and the water cycle. They learned about what a plant needs to live. And they were able to bring it home and plant it in their own garden to further explore the growth of seeds on their own. One student is bringing it to his grandmother's home to tend to it with her so they can watch it grow together. This made the one day CKLA lesson expand into three weeks of a classroom lesson that lasted into a lifelong lesson with a written journal. It allowed them to make real-life connections bringing it home to plant.
Thank you for making it easier for me to teach my students by supporting our classroom and allowing me to be more innovative with the lessons. Your kindness and generosity is truly appreciated.”

Funded Dec 21, 2023I am so very grateful for your kindness and generosity! I have not only my students but some past students who will eat and snack on these foods every day. My children are not ever going hungry during the school day. They can concentrate and focus on lessons so much better when their tummies are full. They are so appreciative that they even give back a little extra by helping me pick up trash in the school yard. It is never "our" snack wrappers, but we want to share the generosity received with others. They are learning to care about their school and their schoolmates.
Having tissue all around the room is a blessing. The children know they can get the tissue whenever they need it. We have shared some boxes with my past students, as well. Hopefully, we are coming to end of cold season and we won't need the tissue as much. But, the children and I are very thankful that we have this wonderful soft tissue in which to blow and wipe our noses. Thank you.”

Literature Books for Second Grade
Funded Dec 21, 2023Thank you for these incredible books! My students are learning so much about black history, women's history, and the human body. Jackie Robinson has come alive in our classroom! Harriet Tubman and her struggles are coming to life. The fight for rights from Cesar Chavez hits home for some of my children with their parents' work on the farms. The books about women's history help my girls to find strength in themselves. It helps my boys to see the inequality and the struggle others have for justice and equal rights.
Even though it may seem these concepts are difficult to understand, these books are bringing understanding to them in words that break down the struggle and share the turmoil.
My children love the anatomy puzzle and books. They are always asking, "What's this?" And they ask, "What does this part of the body do?" I may have a future doctor, physical therapist, or runner in my midst.
Thank you for these wonderful books and for supporting my children and my teaching.”

Extra Books to Match Our New Language Arts Curriculum
Funded Dec 8, 2023Thank you for helping me make history come alive! My children love these books and often ask to read them again and again. Even during private reading time, they ask to read them by themselves. My children love to learn. When information is presented to them in words they can understand, it makes learning even more exciting. Your donation has helped me help my children to learn to love history and mythology. They are excited to have these books in their hands before I even teach the lessons. They want to tell me what they have learned! Who am I to stop them from teaching me? It is thrilling when they grab on to information and want to share it with everyone. Thank you for helping to make this happen. My children and I are so grateful for your generosity.”

Books For Our New Language Arts Curriculum
Funded Dec 8, 2023Thank you so much for your generosity! It has been so wonderful to share these books and all of this information with my children. We read the curriculum, but when the children get to read the information themselves at a level that they are capable of, they are so happy! They are excited to teach their parents about what they have learned. And that helps them to retain the information they have learned.
So often, when we have private reading time, the children ask to read these books specifically! It is so thrilling as a teacher to know that I have sparked an interest in them. Thank you for helping me to do that! Your donation is what has made these children interested in learning more.
Thank you!”
