Tabletop Activities That Are Easy to Disinfect
Funded Aug 13, 2020Thank you so much for your generosity! My students came to school to pick up their supplies and they were so excited to start touching and playing with all of the games! Of course, I disinfected them between touchings. The kids got to play and explore with the mazes and letter puzzles. They used tongs to squeeze the balls to help with their writing skills. They were exploring with their eyes and their hands. They got to touch and learn and explore. And I felt confident in letting them play with them because I was able to disinfect these tabletop activities with Lysol spray and wipes before the next child came in to school to get their supplies.
My kids are so anxious to get back into the classroom to continue to explore with these activities. And I am so happy that I have these items with which they will be able to play and learn. Thank you for making this happen. We will be playing with them more soon.”

Writing and Learning From Home
Funded Jul 27, 2020My students are off and running in kindergarten with all of these amazing resources! Thank you so much for helping me give my students a full set of school supplies to use at home as we start the school year. My kids have been working in their first journals with beginning writing and drawing. They are using crayons and markers and working on their feelings journal. And they are working with their families to do pages in their "All About Me" books.
One student told me his pencil broke so he can't write any more. I told him there is a pencil sharpener in his bag... there is one in everyone's bag. Many of the kids got excited and started to look in their bags for it. They were so excited to have the tools they need at their fingertips.
We learned a safety poem and made STOP signs today. We also cut a cloud shape with a rainbow using scissors, glue and markers, adding our name in rainbow colors with the markers and crayons. My kids were so happy and proud of themselves. They were so engaged in the lesson. Being able to "make and do" at home is making a wonderful difference in my kids' lives and education. Thank you.”

STEAM Materials for Home and School
Funded Aug 12, 2020Thank you for this incredible gift of STEAM materials for my students. My kindergartners were so excited to receive all these fun items. They are most excited to use the brick board with Legos. They just started online school, and the Legos with brick board are one of the biggest hits! We made letters and shapes and some kids made a floor plan of their homes, with kitchen and all. It was so cool!
When I showed the kids the ramps and wooden blocks, a few of them started to play with and hug them! They love rolling the ball on the ramp and all the potential for fun. And the MagnaTiles and magnetic tubes and marbles are peaking their interest. We can't wait to open the box and come back to school to use them.
Thank you for helping me provide STEAM activities and materials for my kids for home and school.”

Funded Jun 19, 2020Thank you for your generosity! Your very kind donation is helping me to keep my students safe and healthy. With their own personal cubby spaces, my students will keep their backpacks and water bottles separated and safe from contamination. I will pass out notes to each child to take home to their families to inform them of class and school events. I will be able to see which family did not get the messages, and I can call home as needed, in case of emergencies. Also, student work will make it to the correct home, so families can praise their kids for all their hard work.
I greatly appreciate being able to follow the guidelines set by our county health department, to make sure personal property and possessions have a separate compartment to prevent the spread of disease. These cubbies do exactly that. When we return to the classroom, personal cubby spaces will help to keep my students safe. Thank you for helping me to protect my kids.”

Funded May 27, 2020Thank you so much your your donations! Having this organizing space-saver storage unit will allow me to organize our daily lessons for our online class and have easy access to each of the needed materials. I will be able to keep my students on task with their at-home learning by having all of their materials centrally located.
Learning from home is a new adventure for kindergartners. It is a new and exciting challenge for both students and teachers. Having this organizer allows me to be efficient with my online teaching (synchronous learning) and enable me to create better asynchronous lessons so that my students will have hands-on experiences both with and without the use of technology at home.
Thank you for helping me to better teach my students.”

Funded Jun 17, 2020Thank you so much for contributing to my students and my future students! These wooden blocks are one part of the foundation for learning in kindergarten. Kindergartners need to play, touch and build in order to learn and understand. By manipulating blocks and building structures, my students will learn engineering skills. They will learn math and geometry. They will use the cars and learn about ramps, force, gravity, push and pull. They will use our new community block people with these blocks to learn about social issues. They will build a community with the blocks while building a community within our classroom and our school.
Building blocks are so much more than just wooden rectangular prisms. They are the foundation of our future. Thank you for donating to my class and our children. Thank you for investing in our future.”

Funded Jun 8, 2020Thank you so much for helping me to keep my students safe. Having these organizing cubby units with bins will keep my students' supplies separated and safe. Students will be able to find their own materials quickly and efficiently. Their materials will be separate from other students' materials to prevent the spread of germs. This is especially important during this pandemic. Keeping our children safe and healthy is a major concern as we get ready to return to the classroom.
Thank you for providing my students with organized, easy-access storage for their personal items. I am especially happy that these cubbies have rounded edges for safety and laminated sides for easy cleaning and disinfecting. Thank you, again, for donating to my classroom and my students.”

Funded Jul 19, 2020Thank you for looking out for my students and for me this school year. As we come closer and closer to the start of the 2020-2021 school year, students, parents and teachers are all worried about the health and safety of our kids. The anxiety grows as we wonder if our schools are prepared. And disinfectants are on back order. Thank you for helping me to prepare for a safe start to the school year. Three items have arrived and they are ready to spray the viruses and germs. Two of the disinfectants are expected to arrive at the end of August, just in time for school. I am so grateful that you have helped to get this grant funded. Because we planned early, we will be ready with a disinfected and clean classroom.
Our school district will be following all protocols and guidelines set by the state and county. These supplies will assure that my classroom is disinfected and my kids will have a safe place to come to learn. Thank you for easing our minds and helping me to keep our classroom clean and us healthy.”

Funded Jul 22, 2020Thank you for your very generous donation! We will use the whiteboards and Expo markers to learn our ABC's and learn to write letters and words. Each child will now have a set for home, so that we can practice letters, sounds and words with our online distance learning. Thank you. Each child will also have a set of magnetic letters. We will use the these letters to learn about consonants (C) and vowels (V). When the magnetic letters arrive, I will give each child a set to help them learn to write and read CVC and CCVC words.
The dragon writing books will help us to see our print in a more permanent way. It will also help us to read our own writing and view ourselves as writers.
My students and I are very lucky to have you helping us to succeed. Thank you again for your generosity!”

Oh, I See!
Funded Jun 15, 2020Thank you so much for your generous donation to my kids and my classroom. This wireless tablet has enabled me to reach out to my students, and still keep them apart. I was able to utilize the tablet as if I was in the classroom and share the information on the screen with my kids, just like a whiteboard. My students received the information and many were able to annotate my screen from their iPads at home. We did math addition and subtraction on the computer, just like we were in the classroom.
Students wrote our morning message on their iPads to be shared on our class screen, one word at a time, sharing the writing. (Some kids' writing looked a little off, but that will be our next grant - stylus pens for the kids to use at home on their iPads!) My students truly embraced writing on our wireless tablet and screen.
I am looking forward to utilizing this tool in the classroom with my students keeping their 6-ft. distance from each other, but still, sharing in our interactive shared writing and math lessons. Thank you for making this happen for my kids.”
