  • Cereal and Breakfast Bars for Added Energy Throughout the Day

    Funded Mar 12, 2025

Thank you for this amazing gift. Having food in one's belly helps the mind to think and learn. My children know that there will always be something nutritious and delicious to eat in our classroom. This means they will not be hungry when they are at school, ever. It encourages them to come to school, too.

At the end of the day, they sometimes ask for something to eat on their way out the door. Of course, I say yes. I don't always know what food is in their pantry at home and I want to help where I can. Thank you for making this possible and for allowing me to feed my students throughout the school day.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Gauci

  • Science: The Cycles of Nature

    Funded Dec 31, 2024

Thank you for your kindness and generosity. With these items, I have been able to share the world with my students. They have been learning about the earth and outer space. They have trekked across America with our globes and traveled to same path as the pony express. They have learned about the equator and the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn. They have learned about the rainforest. They have discovered the oceans and the moon. It is amazing to see how much my children have learned with the help of these tangible manipulative. They have learned about the four seasons and everyone's need for water. The funding of this grant has made it possible for me to teach beyond the curriculum to the interests of my children. Thank you for making this possible for helping me to expand the knowledge of my children.”

  • A Rainbow of Colors

    Funded Jan 12, 2025

Thank you for helping me to add color and spark to our classroom! Colored paper adds so much more to a picture, design, or story. My children are becoming more creative and experimental in their work. It rolls over into their writing and story-telling. The surprise in their voices when they discover how to create three-dimensional objects with paper or mix paint colors to find a new color on the color wheel (with a new color name to learn) is amazing and inspiring. Thank you for your generosity and contribution to the education of my children.”

  • Books, Books, and More Books!

    Funded Dec 17, 2024

Thank you for your kindness and generosity! These books have been such a wonderful addition to our classroom. With our new curriculum, there are fewer trade books that are being shared with our children. I believe children need a variety of stories from as many authors as possible so that they can see different styles of writing and also enjoy different views, and different language and word choices.

Many of the books in this grant are books that my children can read on their own. They do not need to wait for me to read it to them. Nor do they have to wait for our small group reading sessions to get their fill of words and language. They are learning about diversity, differences in appearance and culture, social skills, respect, homophones, and homonyms. The books that we have received are fun and inspiring. My children are asking for a time to read more! What a dream come true! Thank you for helping me to get these books into the hands of my children.”

  • Reading Books For Middle Readers

    Funded Dec 25, 2024

Thank you for your generous donation to my children and my classroom. These books have been the perfect boost to my middle readers. I am teaching small groups of children who already have the beginning skills of reading. These books give them the push they need to feel confident while also building their vocabulary and fluency. I love hearing them as they read both individually and chorally with that feeling of success! Thank you for providing with my children with these sets of books and for making this acquisition of success happen for them.”

    With gratitude,

  • Beginning Readers

    Funded Dec 18, 2024

Thank you for helping me by providing my students with sets of beginning readers. Having Leveled books for my beginning readers and English Language Learning students has been a gift. I can work with small groups of children, each reading the same book together, learning choral reading, phonetics, pointing and tracking words, while feeling successful.

Your kindness has helped me to build language skills in my early readers. I appreciate your gift. Thank you for donating to my children and for helping me to take care of them building their abilities and confidence.”

  • Breakfast Bars For a Quick Start to the Day

    Funded Dec 25, 2024

Thank you so much for helping me to feed my students. Having these breakfast bars has been such a gift. My students are growing and they are always hungry. Sometimes, they don't make it to school on time for our free breakfast program. Sometimes, they are still hungry an hour after eating breakfast. And even at the end of the day, they just need that extra boost to make it to the end of the school day. These breakfast bars are an energy boosting quick snack loaded with grains. Knowing that they have this option throughout the day is a blessing and it eases their mind. Thank you for helping me ease their minds along with their rumbling tummies.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Gauci

  • Bringing Creativity Back Into The Classroom

    Funded Jan 12, 2025

Thank you for helping me bring creativity back into the classroom! My students are thrilled to use index cards to work together and build card houses with one hand each using teamwork. They had to use their words, thus increasing their vocabulary, while working together to get their cards to stand. It was a true test of patience, language, and understanding. We also used these cards to create flashcards for math and "hair portraits" for Black History Month. We made African Masks inspired by Lois Mailou Jones. My children explored lines, shapes, vivid colors with markers, and painting with watercolors. The results were amazing and inspiring to the other children in our school.

The glitter is always an added plus to our projects. It always adds extra pizazz and makes the children feel so special. When a teacher is willing to get messy and splash color and glitter around, it makes the children love what they do even more. It helps them to feel loved and appreciated and respected. That is what I hope these extra art supplies do for my children. I want them to express themselves in colorful and vivid ways, just like Lois Mailou Jones and Lorna Simpson (Hair portraits).”

    Mrs. Gauci

  • Food For The Holidays

    Funded Nov 25, 2024

Thank you so much for helping me to feed my children and their families. Sometimes, money runs out at the end of the month, and trauma happens. My families have experienced some very unexpected and unfortunate events. Your donation has helped them to worry about a few less meals. My children have food in their bellies.

Due to the nature of the situation, I did not take pictures of the children for this grant. I hope you understand.

My families are so grateful that you have helped them. Your kindness and generosity have truly helped a few families in need at a very special time. Thank you.

The pasta and sauce, the corn, popcorn, and all of the food and complete meals have been a blessing. These meals and a few presents and treats helped my families have a wonderful holiday. Along with a few presents, they had a lot of smiles and a lot of relief. Your donation has been a blessing!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Gauci

My kindergartners are fun-loving and energetic! They come to school excited and ready to learn new things. Over 90% of my students come from low-income households. Many of them meet the definition of homeless; some share apartments or live in shelters. These families work essential jobs to keep food on their table and our tables. Just like everyone else, my students want to grow up and become doctors and firemen and architects (think "Legos"). They want to become computer engineers. They have dreams and ambition. Thank you for helping my kids make their dreams come true with your donations. Thank you for supporting my kids by supporting my grant requests. Together, we can make a huge difference in the lives of these children.
