21st Century Storytelling Through Video Diaries
Funded Mar 27, 2018Our school integrates technology in many academic subjects because each student in our school has an IPAD. Using technology has improved my students' ability to research science, social studies and math concepts in order to expand their ideas. We have learned to create I movies that embody their learning in a visual media.
The 360 camera has allowed the students to record videos and narrated them with greater ease. The students can just hold camera still without worrying about zooming in, or moving angles to record all their surroundings. The camera does all this on its own and when we share their videos they love manipulating the video to see all the angles to analyze and look for new details.
My GATE and technologically advanced students have been challenged to create video journals and have embraced this advancement. Even my shy students have benefited because they can record their ideas without worrying of looking into camera or scrutiny of peers' gazes.”

This classroom project was brought to life by Ripple and one other donor.Oral Reciting like Martin Luther King Jr.
Funded Jul 29, 2013My students were delighted to receive the PA system and the microphone.
We are able to use this resource in multiple ways. We use it to listen and recite songs in order to enhance their language abilities. The microphone encourages students to learn to communicate better. They are able to express their ideas and comprehension skills about stories we read daily. They are also able to present classroom projects orally. For example, they used the microphone to share with the class All about themselves answering vital questions like, what they want to be when they grow up and who is their hero.
My class is made up of 23 students that are learning the English Language as a second language. As such they have many language gaps. Through the use of the microphone the students' are building their vocabulary and their self confidence. I have seen one student's stuttering decrease as a result of encouragement and practice.
Once again thank you for your generosity my class and I are very grateful.”

Mrs. Nieto
