As a speech-language pathologist, I get the fun and unique task of creating and implementing my own therapy activities to support each of my student's individual speech, language and communication needs as it relates to academics. The challenge in that is, I service an elementary school TK-5th grade, with 2 mild-moderate special day classes and 2 moderate-severe "social, behavior, communication" autism classes with a caseload of about 60-70 students all with different needs. Having the resources to service so many different age, skill and cognitive levels can be difficult. My students range from general education students with speech intelligibility (articulation, stuttering) deficits to nonverbal students with autism.
