The Impact of Donated Hygiene Items, Snacks, and Sweatpants in

a school environment where many students face challenges related to housing and food insecurities, the generous donations of hygiene items, snacks, and sweatpants play a crucial role in supporting their well-being and academic success.

    Addressing Hygiene Needs:

Hygiene supplies are often a financial burden for families in low socio-economic situations. When students run out of essential items like soap, toothpaste, or deodorant, they may have to wait for weeks until their parents can afford to purchase more. By providing these supplies, we are ensuring that students can maintain their personal hygiene, which contributes to their confidence and self-esteem.

    Promoting Health and Well-being:

Access to hygiene items helps prevent health issues and promotes a healthier school environment. When students feel clean and well-groomed, they are more likely to participate actively in class and engage positively with their peers.

    Providing Comfort with Sweatpants:

The donated sweatpants offer a vital resource for students who may come to school inadequately dressed for the weather or whose clothing may be damaged. Having a change of clothes ensures that they can focus on learning without the distraction of discomfort or embarrassment about their appearance.

    Snacks for Sustenance:

Providing snacks addresses food insecurity, allowing students to have the energy and focus needed for academic success. Knowing that they have access to healthy snacks can alleviate stress and anxiety related to hunger during school hours.

    Fostering Gratitude and Community:

Students express immense appreciation for receiving these necessary items. This not only fosters a sense of community but also reinforces the idea that their needs are recognized and valued by caring individuals outside the school.

    Thanking Our Generous Donors:

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the donors for their generous contributions. Your support makes a significant difference in the lives of our students, providing them with the essentials they need to thrive both in and out of the classroom. Your kindness and generosity are truly appreciated, and we are grateful for your commitment to helping these young individuals succeed despite the challenges they face.

Thank you for making a positive impact in our school community!”

    Heartfelt Thanks for Your Generosity

On behalf of the students and staff, I want to express our deepest gratitude for your thoughtful donation of snacks, stress balls, and journals. These items are not only greatly appreciated, but they also play a vital role in supporting the emotional and mental well-being of our students.

In our school, where many students face unique challenges, your donation has made an immediate, positive impact. The snacks provide a much-needed boost to students throughout the day, while the stress balls and journals offer calming tools for those navigating difficult emotions. Your generosity is helping create a safer, more nurturing environment where students can thrive academically and personally.

We are so grateful for your support in making these essential resources available. Thank you for making a real difference in the lives of our”

  • Lessen High School Anxiety

    Funded Dec 23, 2023

My students are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to use calming strips, fidget toys, and Legos to express their anxious feelings. They always react with genuine gratitude when we discuss mindfulness and ways to reduce symptoms in our counseling sessions, and I present them with a fun tool to assist them in gaining healthier mental health. Students will receive continued support in their journey for increased mental health awareness. We take this opportunity to thank you donors for making us a priority.”

  • Scrapbooking Promotes Artistic Creativity!

    Funded Jan 24, 2023

Our project used scrapbooking to get to know and encourage communication with the young women in our school. Creativity, the ability to express yourself, is much needed in this time of post-covid.

The young women could use scrapbooking to acknowledge friendships and say things they couldn't communicate with words.

Our school truly appreciates all the donors who contributed to this project. Once again community brings our students together in a fun and positive project. Thank you sincerely. We couldn't do this work without the kindness of strangers.”

  • COVID Left an Impact: They Need to Talk

    Funded Dec 1, 2021

After being remote for so long, staff and students yearned to be back in the school building. The need to be together was felt and seen those first weeks, in everyone's smiles behind the masks and the warm fist bumps as time went on though the impact of covid was evident. Our students were struggling to stay motivated.

Since school reopened, our students have been struggling with attendance; our ability to keep them motivated needs to incorporate activities they enjoy. Our students love sitting with each other and creating with Legos or playing with Mad Matter. Simple things help them remember better times with more minor things to worry about. So much of this year has been stressful.

Thank you for allowing them to be together, enjoying a fun activity, finally talking to each other in person, freely enjoying each other's company. It indeed has been priceless.”

  • Young Women Stress Relief

    Funded Oct 27, 2019

Bronx Design and Construction Academy is genuinely appreciative of the donations received. Our school assessed a need for our female students to spend time with each other bonding and expressing their feelings in a safe environment. BxDCA student population is the majority of male students; our female community is approximately only 20%. Our monthly girl talk lunchtime groups have opened communication between our female staff and our female students. Our team struggles to provide for our students financially. We usually have to dig into our own pockets for incentives for the girls.

Our students were thrilled with the donations; we provided a two-part group session on healthy relationships. We are empowering our girls to believe in themselves and build expectations around being in healthy relationships. The students were interested in using the stress relief equipment to enhance their academic experiences.

We will continue having monthly girl talk group sessions open to all the girls and encouraging communication, self-love, and overall empowerment. Thanks to the generous donors, our girls understand that other adults outside of the BxDCA bubble care about them becoming fierce, career/ college women.”

  • The Bronx Guide to Feeling Good About Yourself

    Funded Aug 28, 2013

Thank You for the support you gave toward this project. The students have been awe inspired by the journals and the literature, it has promoted discussion and an eagerness to participate. The students are currently using the journals in a self-esteem group and individual students have found them useful as they navigate the world of elementary school. One student has found valuable information about understanding the changes to her body and how this impacts her life. Her mother has been able to have discussions that she admits she was not prepared to have on her own without the support. The students eagerness to delve into topics and areas that they probably would not have been able to discuss without the books prompting has been helpful. It cannot be taboo to speak of something if it has already been written about. I cannot thank you enough for the support and the gift you have given these students.”
