  • Facts, Facts, and Almanacs!

    Funded Oct 3, 2024

Thank you so much for helping our library receive a new set of updated National Geographic Kids almanacs. The students will really enjoy reading them and using them for research.

In library class we will use the almanacs to learn how to use nonfiction books to search for information using the table of contents and index. Students love using the almanac because of the fun information and colorful pictures contained inside the cover. Students also like checking out the almanac for fun personal reading .

Thank you Sonic for doubling our donations and helping us reach our goal! Sonic has helped us in the past with getting books in our library and they have done it again. Thank you so much.”

    With gratitude,

  • Wiggle, Jiggle, Wobble Chairs!

    Funded Sep 18, 2024

Thank you for providing the wobble chairs for my classroom. Students were very excited when they walked into the library and saw the wobble chairs at the tables for seating. The wobble chairs are very popular and highly sought after week after week.

It took a few weeks for the students to use the wobble chairs correctly. As a teacher I try to allow those students who need them the most the use of them. Allowing movement during class allows those students with ADHD the ability to focus a bit more.

Thank you for this extra resource.”

  • Graphic Novels Part II

    Funded May 10, 2024

Thank you for helping to bring this project to life. More graphic novels will now be added to the library for students to enjoy.

Graphic novels are in high demand. Many students enjoy checking out graphic novels to read for pleasure from the library. They are especially helpful to older students with lower reading levels. Because of your donation we will be able to provide graphic novels for more students.

Books are also expensive and school budgets are stretched thin. I thank you for helping our library provide for our students and for helping to increase their desire to read.”

  • Animals Around the World

    Funded Feb 5, 2024

Students are so thankful for your generous donation to our library. The animal book collection in our library has now been updated!

The new animal books are colorful and exciting to read. Every week students are checking out the new animal books. The reading levels of the books are also compatible for large amount of the school population. It is great to have students excited to learn about animals around the world and to be reading non fiction.

The public library is not accessible for many of the students at school and they depend on the school library. Keeping our library current and up to date is important but expensive. Because of Donor's Choose and donor's like you we are able to keep the excitement of reading alive. Thank You!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Franklin-Ledyard

  • Let's Celebrate With Holiday Books

    Funded Mar 30, 2023

Thank you for providing holiday books for my students. Because of availability issues you also provided sports books and books on weather. I know my students will enjoy all of these books. Currently our library has few or outdated books on these topics. The students will be so excited to have the new books to read. With the bright colorful pictures and the lower reading levels students will be so excited to have these books to check out. Thank you for your very kind generosity to our library!”

  • It's Raining Cats and Dog Books!

    Funded Mar 30, 2023

Thank you for providing so many pet books. Students love to read about pets. You also provided books on how to take care of pets. Helping students to become responsible pet owners helps them become responsible in all areas of life and become a kinder more loving human. Students love to take out the pet book of the pet they own. Many pet books go out every week. It is nice to have a wide selection for all the students. I also used this project to provide books for two schools. Thank you for your caring generosity!”

  • Community Helpers and Career Education in the Library

    Funded Mar 30, 2023

Thank you for providing so many wonderful books on careers and community helpers. Our students will be using these books as part of their curriculum study on careers from kindergarten to fifth grade. These books will provide an introduction to the careers they may or may not be aware of. It will help them to start thinking about their future and what career they may want to choose or dream about for themselves. Hopefully learning about careers will motivate or steer them on the right educational path for their future. Thank you again for your generosity!”

Thank you for providing graphic novels to our libraries. The students love to read graphic novels. Graphic novels encourage students to read with the vibrant graphics throughout the book, word bubbles, and subject matter. Students will be using these books for leisure reading and book reports. The students have been so excited to see that we have these new books in our library. Since we have received them, graphic novels have been flying off the shelves. • Engaging the Reading Gap!

    Funded Dec 1, 2021

Thank for donating to Engaging the Reading Gap. Your support has helped our school receive lower level chapter books for the library. The pandemic has caused many students to fall behind in their reading levels. These chapter books will engage students while also helping students grow in their reading ability.

Students in third through fifth grade want to be able to check out a chapter book from the school library. Now that we have lower level readers they are also able to read the chapter book that they check out. They are not embarrassed because these chapter books are appealing to all and do not look like "baby" books. They are excited to be able to check out the new books in the library.

Reading for pleasure helps students grow in their reading ability. Thank you for allowing students to have these books to enjoy, and to enjoy reading because they can.”

  • Score Big With Sport Books!

    Funded Aug 10, 2021

Thank you so much for you generosity. With your help we were able to purchase more football team books for Sheridan Elementary School along with general sports books.

Many of the boys in school like to check out team sport books for their leisure reading. Now they have a larger selection of football teams to choose from. They have already found the new books and are checking them out!

Sports books increase the incentive for many students to want to check books out of the library and read. It is important for these books to be current, with vibrant pictures and of the students reading level. The new football team books meet all this criteria. The students at Sheridan thank you so much!”

These books will continue to enhance the library with a wide variety of reading materials at various reading levels. The school library is a place that students really enjoy. I read on the carpet to them, they also read independently at tables or on pillow pets and bean bag chairs throughout the library! I teach students to treat books with love and care so we can keep our library and books in good condition, and they are thankful for the opportunities to read. I have chosen all of these books with my students in mind. These new books will also allow my students to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently at their own grade level. Student will also be able to choose books that interest them. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. This project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed word.
