Tables for Math Collaboration
Funded Jun 7, 2019I would like to thank every donor for supporting my project . My students now have tables to complete hands on activities in math. The tables allow students to use manipulatives that lead to concretizing abstract ideas. The math tables also give students the opportunity to work and interact in groups to build trust, test and validate their reasoning.
The first thing they noticed when my students came in my classroom was the shiny, yellow tables. They were very excited to know that they were not going to have desks but tables that would allow them to work in groups. They were also overjoyed realizing that they would have space to use their manipulatives in small groups.
Now that the tables are in my class, I would like to create flexible seating at the tables. The tables allow me to provide different seating options for the students, such as bean bags, wobble chairs, or stools.”

Let's Get Comfy and Cozy!
Funded Aug 7, 2017I love to allow time for students to read independently! It is a crucial part of having balanced literacy in my classroom. I noticed my students did not like sitting at their desk to read. The chairs are hard and not very comfortable, especially when trying to read a good book. I decided to create a classroom library (by Lexile), but it lacked comfortable seating for my students. The pillows arrived just in time! I can see a major difference in my students' attitude when it is time for independent reading. They love it! My students have increased their Lexile levels, reading averages, and the overall love for reading this year. I am so glad I made the choice to add comfortable seating to my second grade class. I can't thank you enough for funding my project and helping cultivate the love for reading in my classroom!”
