Big Book Easel!
Funded Oct 27, 2022Thank you for your generosity with the Big Book Easel. The students have been able to use this easel for various word and picture sorts. Likewise, the students have used this easel for reading fluency and poetry center. In addition, the students have used the easel for math practice with writing their numbers, counting sets, and addition and subtraction practice. Having a place to store the classroom's big books has been amazing, with finding the books needed easier and having a designated place for the various books we use. Your generous donation has helped this school year and will impact many more students throughout the school year.”

Math Rocks
Funded Oct 5, 2022When this box of math materials arrived at school, I was thrilled. It came at the most incredible opportunity ever. My kindergarteners this year have to take an achievement test. Yes, bubbles and all. It has been very tiresome and long preparing for these three tests throughout the year. The box arrived two weeks before the last test. Not only were they just as excited as they would be at Christmas, but I was able to do excellent math reviews, and after 2 1/2 hours of sitting and testing, the students were excited and thrilled to learn more. These games made reinforcing these math counting skills a breeze. One student was excited to use the airplanes. He has so much trouble counting one-on-one this was perfect for him. I could not have been any more proud of him. I was elated. I was so scared that my child with Aspergers would have a tough time during achievement tests. Not a problem. I let him choose every morning before the test what he would like to review first and saved it for him. He did GREAT!!!! This was a HUGE defeat in itself. The best part is I can end the school year strong and begin the coming years even stronger. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!”

Funded Nov 11, 2020This year of teaching has been nothing short of a roller coaster. We have been virtual, in-person, virtual, in-person, virtual, and back to in-person. Your donation to my classroom was so generous and very much appreciated. Having dividers at my tables has not only given my students a sense of ease being at school to learn but the parents' anxiety has been less. It has helped me keep to the CDC guidelines while giving my kindergarteners the education they need and deserve. It has given me the opportunity to have small guided reading and math groups instead of only working with one student at once. Your generosity and compassion for my students and my classroom have been a forever blessing to my students, their families, and me. I truly appreciate your help in making this unique year a successful year.”

Funded Oct 23, 2020This year of teaching has been nothing short of a roller coaster. We have been virtual, in-person, virtual, in-person, virtual, and back to in-person. Your donation to my classroom was so generous and very much appreciated. Having hands-on manipulatives that students could use for math and not share has been amazing. They have been able to use these both at home and at school. They were hard plastic so they were easy to clean and sanitized each day. Not being able to use our peace corner having their own personal peace corners has been extremely useful. The fidget spinners, stress balls, etc. are used daily. While they feel overwhelmed I can encourage them to use these items while learning both at home and school. There has been little to no misbehavior in my classroom. I never believed I would have to tell my students to go outside for recess but stay away from their classmates. The outdoor toys have not only been used for outdoors recess but also indoor recess. Your generosity and compassion for my students and my classroom have been a forever blessing to my students, their families, and me.”

Funded Aug 1, 2019The flexible seating that I was given for my students has been amazing. My students are focused at the literacy stations, writing center and math centers. They actively are engaged in their lessons. Their participation has doubled. This is all due to the fact the students are able to get their wiggles out while they are learning. They are engaged in their learning and not letting their ADHD or autism interfere with the learning. The behavior problems within the classroom has dramatically dropped due to these flexible seating options. I am beyond gratitude and appreciative of the support you have shown me and my class.”

Funded Aug 4, 2016This was one of the most incredible projects funded. I was not sure the true impact that flexible seating would create in my classroom. But this is amazing. I literally have no behavior problems this year. I am not saying that there is not potential for behavior problems just that these new seating arrangements allow the students to find ways to simulate themselves and thus calm themselves before I need to intervene. I have had two college students and three teachers from other schools already observe my classroom this year and they have been amazed and want to try this arrangement as well.
I am very grateful for your support and dedication to the classroom. There is so much that goes into allowing each child to learn at their own pace while meeting the standards and guidelines set before us. Since I teach in a Title one school and students whose first language is not English the help and support you have shown my classroom has been amazing. I could not do what I do with out you.
These students reaction when they found out that someone beside myself had gotten them a gift was a reaction of pure shock and pleasure. They are so careful not to rip, tear or ruin their new seating and they talk about how comfortable they are to sit in and read in. I see three different sets of children within the day. I begin with 14, then 18, and finally 19 students. They all totally enjoy and uses these flexible seating daily.
I will be forever grateful for your kindness and support.”

These chairs not only will help with classroom management but will allow my students to stay focus and help stimulate those that need calmly during guided reading and guided math time. I am truly grateful for your help and dedication to my students this year and many more years to come. Your help and support is what allows me to be successful in the classroom.”

Take Home Readers Needed
Funded Jan 27, 2015The readers that you each helped fund for my students have been wonderful. One of my english learner students today said his first complete sentence on his own with no prompting from me or his classmates. He came into the classroom took his book out of his take home folder and said "Mrs. Fleak I like this book." I cried! Happy tears of course but this child watched his father and uncle gunned down and killed in front of him. They escaped his home land and are here now. He has been nonverbal since I have gotten him. I have made sure he gets a reader every night. I read with him and have him repeat with me the words. He has enjoyed having the books at home....along with all of the other children. The 31 students I have between my reading class and homeroom enjoy them greatly. There confidence in their ability to recognize their sight words is grown and that is sometimes the hardest battle. Thank you each for your help and support to my students this year and future classes to come.”

Sink or Float
Funded May 30, 2014The project you funded for my class SInk or Float has been a valuable resource for my students. I originally thought it was a unit I would use at the beginning of each school year. I was wrong. My students have LOVED these science experiments and I have been able to incorporate them into many lessons. Teaching it whole group first was terrific but to see them going into their centers and exploring on their own and then using their own words and expressing themselves to one another has been AMAZING. I have two non verbal students this year and their faces when they are doing these experiments is unbeatable. These science experiments are helping them to build vocabulary to help communicate with their classmates and fellow friends. They want to go to the writing center to write about what they explored and manipulated with. I feel blessed that you have helped support and honor my class with these experiments.”
