• See Me, Read Me!

  Funded Jul 11, 2021

  The document camera that you have so generously donated to my classroom has opened up a new world of reading to my students. Using the document camera allows all students to view the pages up close. They can look at the pictures for clues to the words and story. Each child sees the page at the same time, for the same length of time and in a large format. Students are able to read along as I read the story. It is such a great opportunity for everyone to share in the lesson at hand.

  My students love being able to see the details in the pictures on the smartboard. They delight in investigating each page, particularly when reading nonfiction. You truly have made books come alive for my class through your generous donation.

• Practice Art in the Styles of Famous Artists

  My students loved listening as I read them the new books about famous artists and their style of art.They couldn't wait to use the art materials and try to be the next Van Gogh, Matisse or Cezanne!

  Their favorite book was about Van Gogh and his sunflower series. After reading the book to the class a few times, they were ready to create their own sunflower paintings. Using black craypas, they carfully sketched sunflowers onto their papers. Then they used watercolor paints to add color to their drawings. Each one was different and beautiful. When the students brought it home, many of the parents framed the artwork. This project gave my students a sense of pride in their artistic abilities.

• Sketch, Draw, Paint! Art for Returning Students

  My students were so excited to recieve all of the new art materials! They couldn't wait to use them!

  I incorporated many of the materials into a unit of study on sculpture. The students first created paper sculpture and learned how to design and embellish this 3d art form. From there, the class then moved on to clay and wood sculpture, using more of the art materials that you so generously donated.We made a classroom gallery and looked at the art from many different angles. It was a wonderful learning experience for the students!

  I am so excited to plan and use the rest of the art materials with my students. They are so proud of their artistic ability and their accomplishments!”

• Creating Our "Herstory": Books with Female Role Models

  Thank you so much for funding this project. My students have been so excited to learn about the roles of women in our history.

  Reading these books as a class has led to many interesting discussion about women's rights and roles. my 1st graders were shocked to learn about women's rights in the past. They were very interested to hear how women have become leaders in our country and have many ideas about what can be done today to ensure more progress. I am so proud of them!

  None of this learning and knowledge could have happened without your support in funding this project. I am truly grateful. I look forward to using thee books again to spark learning with my new class this year!”

• Art for the Heart - SEL Learning for First Grade

  Funded Feb 15, 2021

  I wish that you could have seen the faces of my students when the supplies arrived! They were so excited and eager to use the materials. We had a great time using paper sculpture, clay sculpture (model magic) and wood sculpture to express our feelings. Each creation was a different expression that helped the students acclimate themselves back to the classroom amidst their fears due to Covid-19.

  I cannot thank you enough for your generosity in donating to "Art for the Heart". My students have already benefitted greatly from your donation and will continue to benefit as we use more of the supplies in our classroom activities. • Manipulatives and Essentials Needed for First Grade Learning During COVID-19

  Thank you so much for funding my project. The students have been so excited to use the materials. The document camera has been especially helpful in bringing books to my students. The camera projects pages of the book onto my smartboard so that everyone can see the book, regardless of where they are sitting in the classroom. the students enjoy seeing the enlarged images and words. Many of them actually attempt to read along with me!

  The students enjoy using the manipulatives, especially the dice and unit blocks. Manipulating the unit blocks has made place value an easy concept for my class to comprehend. Having individual sets gives each child a chance for hands on learning, especially during covid when the children cannot share materials.

  Once again, my class and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generous donations to this project. You have helped learning come alive in my classroom!”
