Distance Learning for the Little Ones
Funded Aug 3, 2020Thank you so much for your generosity. My students were very happy and excited when they got their kindle fires.
The kindle fires are helping them to attend to the virtual lessons when they are at home and to use all the academic programs that we use in Prek to learn different concepts like numbers, letters recognition...
My students come from low income households, where usually they do not have technology and if they have, it needs to be share with different siblings. They are very happy because they have their own device that they can use when they want.
Thank you so much for making my students happy!”

Funded Dec 5, 2019Thank you so much for your generous donations!!. The books have helped me introduce them to different genres and to learn different skills. The read aloud is a very important time in my classroom. The students get to increase their vocabulary and learn a lot of things such as print awareness, listening, retelling and many more. It is a pleasure to see them engage, listen attentively to a story, talk about the story and their favorite parts and make real connection. But if I have to choose one of the things that they loved the most is retelling and acting out the stories. ”

Funded Dec 2, 2019Thank you so much for generous donations towards my classroom. My students were fascinated when I opened the boxes in front of them and they saw all the materials. They recognized all the puppets from the stories that we read in the classroom and they wanted to start to use them right away.
Story retelling helps the students to learn to organize and describe events, which enhances reading comprehension. It also builds oral language and increases vocabulary.
Thank you again for supporting my classroom.”

Funded Dec 31, 2018Thank you so much for your donations towards my class. We are so grateful for your generosity, and your trust and commitment to introduce technology at early grades in schools. The money that you donated was used to buy two ipads and to introduce my students into technology.
Now a days technology is all around in our everyday lives, and schools should integrate technology to young children to build 21st century skills.
Many elementary schools that have the technological resources use different programs and learning apps to assist rapid learning and to promote creative learning experiences.
The two extra ipads are helping my students to learn difficult concepts through games, this way they learn more easily and in a way they will enjoy it more. In addition, learning with games they enjoy stimulates their curiosity and motivates them to learn more efficiently.
Some of my students come from low income households, and some of them are still recovering from Hurricane Harvey.
The ipads help my students to be focused by learning through games. They are a great way to work especially when working in small groups. The students are able to have fun as they learn new concepts and also reinforce learned topics. My students are excited that they can use the ipads in different subjects, they use them as a tool to learn the letters and the letter sounds, they also use the ipads when working on math and to master infinite different skills. The ipads have different apps that the students can use depending on what we are learning at the moment or if they need a reinforcement in another skill taught in the past. But best of all, is that they are also learning how to use new technology! I strongly believe that they need to be exposed to technology when they are young to be fully prepared for the 21st century and their futures.
To the students these two ipads are so entertaining to play with and they all love to use them not only for fun but also to learn. The most exciting part is that my students are not bored when it comes to learning letters, sounds, numbers, and writing... They feel as if they are playing a game so they are actually excited to learn, and they can stay focused and engaged in learning all different concepts.
I have definitely seen some progress in most of the students. They used to have trouble identifying and naming letters in the past and the ipads have helped them to learn those things in a way that is fun and efficient. I feel so happy when they come to me and show me the letters while naming them and telling me what sounds they make. It is not a coincidence that my students that do not have access to technology (computer/ipads) at their house are the ones that always ask me for extra time working with the ipads. Some of them even ask me to use them during nap time, using headphones. I love seeing them layed down on the carpet smiling because he/she passed another level (mastered another level) on the ipads.”
