Manipulate Math Learning with Math Manipulatives
Funded Aug 9, 2022I want to express my appreciation for your generosity in support of our classroom project Manipulate Math Learning with Math Manipulatives. It is amazing you are so willing to help out our class. My students really enjoy using the activities and are looking forward to using all of them as the school year progresses and they learn new math concepts.
The math centers are now part of our math routine and they are also used for small group instruction. Each week, I can choose the center games and manipulatives needed for the week's lessons. The centers are easy for the students to use on their own. The activities have also been a great way to reteach skills like using a number line for addition and subtraction. They have also been helpful in solidifying basic addition and subtraction facts for those students that have been struggling with this. Additionally, we use these activities for enrichment with students that have mastered the basic concepts and are ready to move in to something more challenging.
The manipulatives have been a great help for my students. They can use the cubes for measuring and counting, the geometric shapes for classifying, and the rekenrek stands for solidifying number concepts.
Thank you for helping my students develop their math skills. The math manipulatives and center activities have become such a great resource for them as well as something fun for them to do independently.”

Funded Nov 15, 2016I want to express my appreciation for your generosity in support of our classroom project Math Masters Math Games. It is amazing you are so willing to help out our class. My students really enjoy using the activities and are looking forward to using all of them as the school year progresses and they learn new math concepts.
The math centers are now part of our math center and they are also used for small group instruction. Each week, a different group of students has the opportunity to use the centers and I can choose which skill that particular group needs to work on. The centers are easy for the students to use on their own. The activities are color coded so the students are able to read the directions and can access the materials by following the pictures and color coded materials. The activities have also been a great way to reteach skills like regrouping, and using a number line. They have also been helpful in solidifying basic addition and subtraction facts for those students that have been struggling with this. Additionally, we use these activities for enrichment with students that have mastered the basic concepts and are ready to move in to something more challenging.
These activities have also been a great help for student volunteers that come to the classroom. I can simply leave an activity for what we are learning out on the table with a list of students and the student volunteer can work on those skills with them without having to interrupt the lesson going on in the classroom.
Thank you for helping my students develop their math skills. The math games and center activities have become such a great resource for them as well as something fun for them to do independently. Some even ask to use them after school! I'm hoping to be to make some of the activities available for parents to check out and use at home with their students.”

Off the Charts Success!!
Funded Feb 6, 2015My class and I were so excited to receive the chart stand and baskets. We have been learning about being bucket fillers from the book "Have You Filled a Bucket Today?' and receiving these classroom materials from people across the country not only filled their personal buckets and mine, but the class bucket. They know how important it was for our class to have an item like this to make the activities we do on a daily basis easier for me and them. They have all been just as excited as me to use the chart stand. They especially like that it can be rolled around the classroom from the front of the room, where we do whole group instruction, to the rug area, and to the kidney table where we do small group instruction.
Our school is very fortunate to have been given Promethean boards for the classroom a few years ago. However, there are still times when teachers and students need to write on paper to use as a reference or list information that we can refer back to during a lesson. The chart stand allows us to do that. We have been using it every day since we received it. For example, we are learning about the rain forest and we charted all of our questions. Then we can store the chart on the back of the stand to take out and display at a later time to see if all of our questions have been answered. In math, we have most recently used it to make a visual reference of all the 3-dimensional shapes we are learning about and their characteristics. The chart stand is up front in the room so that the students can reference it during the math lesson displayed on the board. We also use it weekly to help us learn about grammar. Each week we take a sentence from our literature piece and lift it. We analyze it for nouns, verbs, adjectives, type of sentence, subject, and predicate, etc. The students complete theirs in their journal but we analyze the sentence together on the chart stand and label it for everyone to see. We can later go back to the sentence and list other verbs or nouns that can change the sentence. In small groups, we use the white board portion of the chart stand to practice our spelling words and identify the vowels, spelling patterns, or syllables.
There are so many ways we use this chart stand on a daily basis. It has given our class an easy way to display information and share our learning. I would not have been able to provide this for my class without your generosity. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for donating to my project and helping me and my class now and future classes.”

The Phonics Centers are now part of our Independent Work Time center and they are also used for small group instruction. When they finish their must-do's they can use the assigned center of the day. Each day, a different group of students has the opportunity to use the centers and I can choose which skill that particular group needs to work on. The centers are easy for the students to use on their own. The activities are designed for 4 students and are color coded so even the students that are not able to read the directions can access the materials by following the pictures and color coded materials. The activities have also been a great way to reteach skills like ending sounds and middle sounds to some of the struggling students.
Thank you for helping my students become better readers. The Phonics Center Activities have become such a great resource for them as well as something fun for them to do independently,”
