  • Flexible Learning Space: You Choose!

    Funded Sep 27, 2016

Words can not express our love and appreciation for your investment in my students. Our flexible learning spaces are up and running. When the students walked into the room, boxes were stacked on top of each other. I informed them that they received gifts from a few friends of our class. As they opened each box, sounds of excitement began to fill the room!

Students are able to complete their independent or group work in various areas around the classroom. We all know and understand how difficult it can be to sit in a desk all day. Well, my students no longer have to do that. You will find a few students reading on bean bags while others are working on the lap desk. The floor pillow is used with a little table to either play games or have discussions with classmates.

The organization center we received is wonderful. We decided as a class to label each drawer for each subject we study. Students are able to turn in their work in an organized manner.

Thank you again for making dreams come true!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Edley

  • Picture Books: 180 Day Challenge

    Funded Oct 25, 2016

Words can not express our appreciation for your investment in our classroom. The kids have been so excited to sit and read the engaging books we received. These books are helping to foster a love for learning that will lead to lifelong learners. Everyday we read a new book that has vivid pictures, elaborate vocabulary, and enjoyable text. I've even been asked to read a few of them twice!

Because of your generous donations, I now have material that I'm using to teach various skills such as characterization, summarization, and story elements. These books have also made such great connections with my students. They are able to see their own life experiences through the characters we read.

My challenge was to read a book each day for 180 days! We will meet our goal because of you. Each day after recess, my students sit on the carpet anticipating the next book. Of course, The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt is their favorite. We've even used this book as a writing extension.

It is because of donors like you that see the importance of educating our students and understand the important of their future. Thank you again for inventing in my kids.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Edley

  • Turning the Light on Learning with Green Screening

    Funded Aug 24, 2015

Words can not express the impact that you have made on my students. Having the ability to create movies that demonstrate their learning, raising self-esteem, and their communication is key to their future success. The kids will be able to create movies with any background. Some of my kids might find themselves in Paris through the use of green screen. Others may want the ability to fly! Green screen makes this possible. It is because of people like you that understand the importance of education that keep us motivated to serve in this capacity. Thank you again for your generous donation to my class. This tool will allow them to create experiences that will last a life-time.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Edley

  • Guiding Readers to Life-Long Learners

    Funded Jan 28, 2014

Thank you again for the generous donation. Because of givers like you, the work that teachers do become easier. I wish you could have seen the look on my students' faces when I blew up the stability balls! They love them!

I have seen such a difference in my kids who have ADHD. The balls allow them to move, but still be focused on their work. I'm so grateful for the bins and drawer set for my guided reading area. Now everything is organized and I can work more effectively than before.

Once again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being so gracious to our class!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Edley

  • Reading Is Thinking!

    Funded Sep 20, 2013

Words cannot express my sincere gratitude for your generous donation. I wish you could have seen the big smiles on my students' faces when the boxes arrived. You would have thought it was their birthday! Of course you know they couldn't wait to open them!

Because of your donation, my students have a fun and exciting way to learn about graphic and text features. My students will understand how important these features are in text. Normally, my students are addicted to fictional text, but I'm sure these colorful text will become some of their favorites!

It is people like you that keep the quality of education moving forward. You see the need and make it happen. Thank you again!”

    With gratitude,

Words cannot express our gratitude for your generous contribution to our classroom. The video

I teach in a school that faces many challenges. Our school is a Title 1 school that has a high number of Burmese immigrants. I am a 3rd grade ESL teacher on this campus. We usually around 800 students! 85 percent of our students are on free/reduced lunch and are considered low-socioeconomic. This school year I will serve one class of about 20 students. Many of my students are facing academic challenges due to their backgrounds and home lives. Among these challenges are dyslexia, slow-learners, learning disabilities, and language. I also have students who are on grade-level that would benefit from this enrichment. I am determined to meet the needs of all my students.
